According to a June 13 report from SoftwareOne, IT managers are worried that the pace of employee skill development may not keep up with the rapid innovation in digital transformation. The survey of 500 IT decision-makers revealed that nearly two-thirds believe their workforces lack the necessary skills to effectively utilize AI, and 41% face challenges in recruiting AI-proficient personnel.

Employers - as a follow-up to yesterday's post, here are the results about how many people are worried about AI and automation taking their jobs. Straight from the article: “Employers must take responsibility for helping their workforce navigate and evolve to meet rapid changes in the economy through training and upskilling,” he said. “Further, it’s imperative that organizations communicate with employees as new AI technology is deployed to set expectations and provide transparency.” I couldn't have said it better myself. You have to own this - especially if you can see it coming. Take care of your employees - even if they can't work for you in the near future - take care of them on their way out. In one study - by IBM - it is even suggested that as much of 40% of the workforce will need to 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥 as a result of implementing AI and automation over the next three years! 🤯 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 is coming: 📊 Generative AI technologies could eliminate or change the nature of 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐣𝐨𝐛𝐬 in the coming years. 📊 The World Economic Forum predicts that 44% of workers’ skills will be 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐫𝐮𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐟𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬. 📊 Even in the next 12 months, around 40% of workers may require some level of #reskilling, according to the WEF. "Over the long-term, labour disruptions could herald an unprecedented demand for reskilling displaced workers," Seth Carpenter, Global Chief Economist for Morgan Stanley, has said. Most businesses will need to 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥 their employees. 6 work and workplace trends to watch in 2024 While you would expect that AI is the major disruptor for work and the workplace, the churn of people moving from place to place and job to job is also an issue. People go where there is economic opportunity. One question is will a large segment of the population be locked out of these changes and opportunities?
