Our Digital Asset Broker platform is the key to enabling the Economy of Things. By 2026, there’ll be an estimated 66bn connected #IoT devices in use, resulting in billions of micro “peer-to-peer” transactions that need to be authenticated, authorised, and audited. Vodafone Business' Digital Asset Broker can enable these devices to connect and transact automatically, without human intervention. This allows organisations to power the potential of IoT, reduce costs and create new business models for our connected future. Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/eNtZz-nD

The potential that web3 offers to both businesses and consumers is beginning to take shape this is largely due to the innovation around blockchain/dlt technology

What a year in Web3 and Metaverse 2022 has been! The leading cryptocurrency Bitcoin has lost over 75% of its value from the high of US$64,000 in 2021 to the current price today of US$16,495, and this is reflective of the wider crypto market which has lost over US$2 trillion in 2022, with trading in NFTs tumbling 97% since January. But what does this really mean? Investment in Web3 and blockchain was still US$6.5 billion in 2022, which was more than double the investment in Fintech. This indicates that despite the fall in the price of crypto currencies something important has happened……blockchain and web3 adoption is extending to the mainstream and business and enterprise. In the meantime public blockchains are making progress with the Ethereum merge in particular showing that public layer 1s are moving in the right direct direction for use by wider business. We have seen this year announcements by major banks including JP Morgan, HSBC, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs on blockchain projects, with JP Morgan executing a DeFi transaction in November , and HSBC launching the Orion bond tokenisation platform the same month. My view is that this is just the beginnng. In 2022 Vodafone launched the Digital Asset Broker platform that I co-founded, which uses blockchain for IoT device identity and transactions (https://lnkd.in/erBKJTe8), and there are other examples of big business including Nike, Starbucks making similar announcements In addition investment in the metaverse was over US$120 billion in the first 6 months of 2022 alone, and Mckinsey estimates the metaverse opportunity to be worth US$5 trillion by 2030. I think the convergence of enterprise and blockchain/web3 is a key step forwards in the evolution of technology, and also speaks to the debate on web2 vs Web3. The answer being that they both need each other, and the metaverse may provide the framework for them to work together, and the focus on customer experience that is needed. Ultimately 2022 will be known as the year that crypto fell in value, but also the year where significant steps towards the adoption of blockchain and Web3 in the wider business and banking was started, with the metaverse providing new momentum to pull these components together. These steps forwards in business and banking may prove more significant in the medium to long term than the events in the crypto market in 2022. Looking forwards to a positive 2023! #cryptocurrency #blockchain #jpmorgan #hsbc #citibank #morganstanley #etheruem #bitcoin #metaverse #mckinsey

Neal Stephenson Named the Metaverse. Now, He’s Building It The 1st White Paper Of Lamina1- A new Novel for 2023 and Beyond? 💥 Inexorable economic forces drive investors to pay artists as little as possible while steering theircreative output in the directions that involve the least financial risk.💥 -Neal Stephenson- Stephenson is now entering the marketplace with his own take on how his fictional concept might become a real-life make-believe world. He’s partnering with a crypto guy—Peter Vessenes, who heads the Bitcoin Foundation—to start LAMINA1, a company hoping to create a scaffolding upon which creators can build an open metaverse. 💥 It’s like Neal is coming down out of the mountains like Gandalf, to restore the metaverse to an open, decentralized, and creative order 💥 Rony Abovitz, the former CEO of Magic Leap, who is a strategic adviser to LAMINA1. 🔵 Mission To deliver a Layer 1 blockchain, interoperating tools & decentralized services optimized for the OpenMetaverse –– providing communities with infrastructure, not gatekeepers, to build a more immersive internet. Both Stephenson and Vessenes agree that ultimately there should be a single metaverse, just like there’s a single internet. But that metaverse should be sufficiently flexible to accommodate any number of different experiences and virtual realities. 💥 If there’s going to be an open source blockchain alternative for people who want to build metaverse stuff, what would that look like? What characteristics would it have as a technology and a social organization?💥 These are the issues Lamina1 tries to tackle -Neal Stephenson- 🔵 Lamina1 approaches the Open Metaverse with a multi-pronged approach: 📌 Layer 1 Blockchain 📌 Metaverse-as-a-Service (MaaS) 📌 Community Economic Participation and Incentives 📌 Original Content 🚨👾 The Open Metaverse – also Jamie Burke are strong defenders for an open metaverse - not one big tech controlling the space. If they will succeed, will depend on a number of different parameters- but this is the clear mission! #metaverse #web3 #blockchain #defi #Metabuzz

For each film Robin Williams appeared in he requested at least 10 homeless people be hired. During his entire career, this amounted to 1520 people. Decency personified… He was MAD in the best way possible - he Made A Difference away from publicity. What a legacy #people #career #film #kindness

7 years of coral restoration pays back! 💪 We have been restoring the reef around Hatamin island for 7 years. Our team has restored over 53 000 corals since the beginning, resulting in a return of 5 times the number of fish species! All this would not have been possible without your support. This Christmas, consider making a gift to bring these precious ecosystems back to life. Adopt a coral for a loved one and customise their certificate! 👉 http://bit.ly/3UjNRVG 📸 Martin Colognoli & Murdianto / Coral Guardian #adoptacoral #coralguardian #coralrestoration #oceanoptimism #marineprotectedarea
