This is what helped me:
• Utilized AI by completely revamping my resume & cover letter using Resumaker.ai, Teal and Swooped’s cover letter buddy tool.
• Job boards I applied on: First and foremost use your LinkedIn network 🔑 Indeed, FlexJobs, Working Nomads and We Work Remotely.• Job boards I applied on: First and foremost use your LinkedIn network, Jobstreet, Dealls 🔑 Indeed, FlexJobs, Working Nomads , We Work Remotely and another Portal
• Each company I had interviews with I took 20 minutes to research; their solution/services, funding, growth the past year, the companies diversity or DEI initiative’s, their mission/core values, and connected with 2-3 people on LI.
• Question prep for the interview TheMuse had a great article with some amazing questions to implement. (𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘢 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘧𝘪𝘵)

• Always follow-up after an interview.
Email within 24hrs thanking the person you interviewed with for their time.
Make sure to add 1-2 sentences that are personalized that reference the conversation you had, this helps them remember you.
Tip 💡 attach all documents; CV, cover letter, pitch, 30/60/90 day plan etc.
• Last but not least remember ✨your value✨ Entering rounds of interviews with different processes can become strenuous and you can lose sight of this. • Last but not least remember ✨your value✨ Entering rounds of interviews with different processes can become strenuous and you can lose sight of this.
My entire career journey I’ve never been laid off and it’s a scary space to be in.
At times you wonder what could I have done better? What’s next? Is this new opportunity a fit? It can all start to hit your self-esteem. Seeing all the posts of people also going through similar struggles with being laid off. My intention is that this post brings a glimmer of hope and resources for those still looking!
