Organisational Behaviour and Leadership Recently a public spat between IPL team Lucknow Super Giants Owner and the team Skipper came to limelight after the team lost a crucial game. While none of the viewers could hear the exact words exchanged, the body language did not make for a pleasant viewing. While the issue itself would be trivial to many, it brings forth the subject of what Leadership is and how a Leader should conduct himself. Some observations :- 1. A Leader has a greater responsibility of making and maintaining Company Culture and Brand Name than employees placed lower than her/him in the hierarchy. 2. A Leader should know that there are more people watching her/him than (s)he imagines. And (s)he should be bothered about it. 3. Respect your Leadership Gp. U have chosen them and so u should respect your own choices! 4. Don't wash your dirty linen in public. You are causing more harm to your own image than the person on receiving end of your outburst. 5. By shouting on your colleagues or subordinates, you are only reducing any possible chances of success that might be left. YOU will lead them to failure by YOUR irresponsible conduct, however right your thoughts and assessment of situation might be. 6. Remember, no ONE person can make a team win. It takes team effort. YOU are the first member of YOUR team. Be responsible and #LeadByExample #leadership #OrganisationalBehaviour #Success #TeamSpirit

Two vital elements of an Excellent Leadership Mindset (ELM) are “Valuing Connections”, and “Expressing Gratitude”. I’ve been writing about and practising the fine art of #leadership -with a fair degree of success and personal fulfilment, I reckon - for over four decades. I also coach men and women in leadership roles across industries. I have seen without exception, that there is something about the mindsets of “valuing connections” and “expressing gratitude” that magically raises the leadership bar of its practitioners to an impressive level. All the myriad leaders - across geographies - whom I’ve worked or interacted with over the years, were adept at delivering results. They’d set stretch-goals, then drive themselves and their teams and colleagues, to attain those targets. Relatively fewer were inspirational leaders; those men and women who’d not only stir their teams to set audacious goals together, but who would inspire them to achieve results; while also innovating product or service features, and processes, so that the end-users would always respond with delight. Of the inspirational leaders, the few who “valued connections” and “expressed gratitude” regularly and often, and whose behaviours would demonstrate that they cared for every single person that they came in touch with, and whose contributions they were truly grateful for, were the leaders everyone loved! Such leaders not only delivered outstanding results and inspired others in their teams to do the same, but for them all, the process of getting things done seemed like play! Not because what they did was easy - no, far from it! Their work seemed like play because everyone was happy! Besides, all were wilfully reaching out to their fullest potential, while also appreciating and supporting what other people were doing! If we all value connections and express gratitude, in every walk of our own lives, we can make a huge impact and make a truly positive difference to our own lives and to those of others.
