Transformation and turnarounds in pharma are complex. The industry presents unique challenges and opportunities. From a consultant’s standpoint, there are a few specific areas that need attention to be successful in a transformation: Stakeholder alignment - Ensure that everyone, from the C-suite to the factory floor, is on board with the transformation. This requires information, explanation, and top-to-bottom commitment. Define teams, process KPIs and governance and make sure everyone is aware how project will be run Make technology and data your strength. Leveraging technology and updating legacy systems will make any transformation easier and smoother. Financial discipline is paramount. This requires cutting costs where necessary and investing in areas that will deliver growth. Regulatory compliance at every stage is mandatory. This one seems straightforward but you don't want to do all this work only to discover you’ve run afoul of the law. Communicate while executing, you want to share success, be open about what is happening… the organization is not silly, they are all aware that some painful decision need to be taken, but in general they appreciate honesty and transparency.
