Slang words, military jargon, technical terminology. It doesn't matter where you are, or the industry you are in, everyone has their own subset of slang words. Coming from the car businesses, we had a lot, some not so flattering. Being new to the legal world, I expected a learning curve, and it has been very educational. Just the other day, I heard one term that stuck with me for a while. Hot seat technician. This phrase, or jargon, is our technicians behind a computer, bringing up evidence while our client, the attorney, is presenting their side of the case. It is the hot seat, our technicians have to seamlessly keep in sync with the attorney without a single misstep in the courtroom. Our Technicians are masters of their craft, and they skillfully handle this hot seat everyday.

Universal Firearm Safety Rule #2: Always keep the firearm pointed in the safest direction possible—the direction of least consequence—and never point it at anything you are not willing to destroy. This applies even to unloaded or training guns and builds on Rule #1: treat all guns as if they are loaded. Safety first, always!

I think this piece is one of the more informative posts I've made this year. That virtually guarantees no one will read it. Just because you have a weapon mounted light on your carry pistol doesn't mean you are prepared to fight in the dark. Read this article to learn about the holes in your low light training.
