How do you develop a high-performance wheel that is lightweight but also fast as hell? The target for the Syncros Capital SL from Scott Sports SA was to achieve the lowest weight possible, with the goal in mind to reduce the power output the body must deploy to reach a certain speed.  The structural analysis there had 2 goals: –Safely reducing weight and at the same time concentrating more of the remaining mass in the center of the wheel in order to improve rotational inertia –Achieving stiffness values that enable a feeling of control and a good power transfer The result? 1170g Captial SL and 1290g Capital Aero 20% reduction in rotational inertia thanks to concentrating more mass in the center Thanks to the team at Radiate Engineering & Design AG and at Scott Sports for making it happen! #aerodynamic #lightweight #fastisfun #team #engineeringexcellence #simulationdriven

Crash simulation is an important part of crash analysis! Engenuity Ltd worked with BMW Group to set up a composite crash simulation that was validated and tested. Composites are great for energy absorbing as they are lighter and smaller than aluminum cones allowing us to develop structures virtually faster and cheaper. Happy to share the stage with Alessandro Porro at this years ZERO PROTOTYPES SUMMIT 2024 hosted by VI-grade at the Simcenter in Udine. We had the opportunity to share the knowlegde of cutting-edge developments in digital control system and tire model development, revolutionizing automotive engineering practices. At AMG, the journey towards digital control system development begins with setting up the best possible digital prototype, which brings along reliablity and reproducibility. With modern and sophisticated methods in model handling, enhancing the models by implementing active systems and further components to develop by continious testing on signal level, we are convinced to trust our simulation results. On top, these methods allowed us to do further improvements in the AMG-Tire Model, which mainly focuses on scaling for low-mu simulations, enhanced ABS and TC response through advanced transient dynamics. These innovations bing along efficiency and accuracy in automotive development, accelerating the realization of control systems especially in driving dynamics. Also a huge thanks to the co-authors Rebecca Lirsch and Michael Bidlingmaier and the great #team with Sebastian Liendo, Jan Glenzer and Martin Schlemmer! Claytex will exhibit and present at the 15th International Modelica Conference - 9th to 11th October 2023 - organised by The institute for Energy Efficient Buildings and Indoor Climate, RWTH Aachen University, in cooperation with the Modelica Association. Paper: Race Car Cooling System Model for Real Time use in a Driving Simulator Abstract: Powertrain performance optimization is one of main targets in racecar and road hypercar development. A key activity needed for both endothermal and electric powertrains is the cooling system sizing through simulation to make sure that the temperature limits are not exceeded in the most aggressive conditions minimizing or avoiding power derating. This article describes the implementation of a 1D cooling system simulation model integrated with a vehicle multibody model to be used in real time in the Dallara dynamic driving simulator with human driver. This activity is the result of a collaboration between Dallara which uses the model implemented to develop and optimize the cooling system architecture of its vehicles, and Claytex who develop the libraries used to generate these simulation models. The model has been validated through comparison with real data of an existing vehicle yielding a RMSE of 0.99 °C.
