💬 "Although this is a multi-billion-dollar loss event, despite the intensity, it looks as if a couple of crucial factors might have mitigated the extent of the impact of Major #Hurricane #Idalia." 💬 “Idalia was one of only ten historical storms since 1950 to intensify by at least 40 miles per hour (64 kilometers per hour) in the 24 hours before U.S. landfall, and the first time that Taylor County in the heart of #Florida’s Big Bend region, has experienced a Category 3 hurricane or higher since records began in 1851.” In an analysis of Idalia, Callum Higgins uses Moody's RMS HWind footprints to examine Idalia's wind field compared to other major Florida hurricanes, and looks at factors that may have mitigated, and also exacerbated, the impact of Idalia. Cue up the out of state “roofers”/ high pressure storm chasing salespeople. I would suggest you go with a local company because absolutely none of those storm chasers will be there in the event you need service after the sale. Ask for 1-State of Florida Roofing Contractors License 2-GL, WC( with a list of the actual employees who will be on your property) and Professional Liability. You need to be named as an Additional Insured! These items need to come directly from their insurance broker not from the roofing contractor. 3-A very detailed scope of work which clearly spells out what is included as well as what is excluded. The more details the better.
