Indian single malts have outperformed global giants like Glenlivet and Macallan, securing a 53% market share in 2023, according to CIABC Office. Of the 675,000 cases sold last year, 345,000 were from Indian makers, growing by 23%, while imported ones grew at 11%. This milestone reflects the progress of Indian whisky makers in terms of quality, challenging traditional perceptions. The trend has prompted Diageo and Pernod Ricard to launch local brands. Despite foreign brands panicking, Indian makers dismiss Scotch puritans and emphasize the fantastic quality and experimentation driving the demand for Indian single malts. Few years ago it took us by surprise that Kenny Chesney started a Rum Company. Most of his colleagues (other musicians and actors) went the Tequila, Gin, Vodka and Whiskey Route. Then K Chesney a Country Music singer from Tennessee, decided to venture in the rum world. Yeah. Rum, Not Bourbon or an American Whiskey that seems a easier path. It is easy to asume that when he started his venture 9+ years ago, the top selling SKU where white and flavored rum, so he decided to start with similar sku. Today one can find Blue Chair Bay Rum Store is in almost every state and many big liquor store chains in the US like Total Wine & More, BevMo!, Liquor Barn and Party Mart, Binny's Beverage Depot etc Things have change in the past years and consumer are loving “dark” spirits. (Common comment said and I here from Liquor Buyers/GM/Owners). So it’s awesome to see Kenny Chesney is releasing a 16yrs Aged Rum from the USVI. We expect that if this goes well he might decide to invest more in top quality aged rums.
