What does it take to build a $1M business? I once wondered that too. I started my business 8 years ago, setting myself the audacious goal of building a $1M businessbusiness within three years. …I think in reality I was making around $100k a year by the time those three years had come and gone. Not bad, but certainly not the $1 million I was aiming for. Luckily, my wonderful husband still believed in me. But you know what else? I believed in me, too. That’s what changed everything for me. I realised that before I had a $1M business, I had to become the kind of person who had a million dollar business. Which is not just about action, it’s about action coupled with belief. It’s about being willing to fail and know you’re failing forwards, because every time you fail, you learn something. When my three-year goal wasn’t hit, I had to reevaluate. I zoned in on my niche, got super clear on who I was here to help, and uncovered how I was going to help them in a way that was aligned with my purpose, passion and mission in life. I realised I had been trying to build a business that made sense on paper, but wasn’t in alignment for me and my feminine energy. Excuse the phrase, but I was basically pushing poo uphill for very minimal success. 💩🤣 But I needed to go through that to understand what I shouldn’t do. I didn’t know it yet, but I was laying the foundation to become the kind of person who builds a million dollar business. It’s taken another five more years of action to bring that goal to fruition. But those first three years were as valuable in building the business I have today as the five after. Because building a multi-million dollar business is about the person you become, you have to be willing to fail. Again… And again… And again. To pick yourself up each time. Let go of what no longer serves you. And come back and do things better. 💕 It might feel like you’re starting from scratch every time. But what you gain along the way is so much more valuable than you know.
