I think most early founders put too much weight on their product idea and too little on offering their product to customers🏋️ The reason behind this is simple. We have a framework for propelling a business and we call it "the scientific method". Yes, the same method that makes us fly to the moon and cure diseases works also for founders. 1. Both science and businesses observe the world as it is 🔎 2. Where science creates hypotheses 💡businesses create product ideas 📦 3. Scientists design experiments ⚗️ to test their hypothesis while businesses offer their products to the market 🤲 In both cases, the outcome can be observed and the process is repeated. The problem for most early founders is that they like to skip the "offer" part. And I know what I am speaking of because Arne Wolfewicz and I have been there 😬 The problem is, as long as you're not trying to offer and sell your product on the market you will never get the right feedback and hence you have no chance of building a product that people want.

Had a blast last night at this Raleigh-Durham startup event! It was awesome to meet and catch up with local founders and listen to inspiring stories from the great hosts Howard Lerman - Roam, Jesse Lipson - Levitate, and Rahul Vohra - Superhuman. (Big shoutout for putting it together!) One story stood out to me: Rahul Vohra going to Superhuman's first users homes to conduct an in-person onboarding. While listening to it, I realized that onboarding was also a critical factor for MuukTest's growth last year; our concierge onboarding hits several key objectives: 1 - Customers quickly get the value of hundreds of automated tests running in minutes 2 - It ensures customers are testing the right tests in the most effective way Customers don't have to be product experts from the get-go; companies can help them achieve the progress they are looking for.

I have always loved the story of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory… Aside from the chocolates, sweets and treats that kids (and adults) love to fantasise about, the narrative that sometimes you need to take a step forward, prove your worth with no obvious upside to eventually claim the BIG prize is something that is missed by so many of us. I work with 10’s of Founders and connectors globally and some of the opportunities we have to make meaningful impact on others and generate huge amounts of personal wealth are crazy. The biggest challenge is that there are far too many ‘Mike TV’s’, so many Violet Beauregard’s and Veruca Salts…people who only see the value of what’s in front of them and wonder why they never quite hit the heights… For me, the bigger prize has always been on the other side of uncertainty, it’s often involved me taking a chance, with no obvious upside…because being like ‘Charlie’ endears you to the people you wish to work with… If I could give one bit of advice it would be to take a chance, don’t seek immediate validation or reward. Just because you don’t yet know what’s behind the door, doesn’t mean there isn’t a pot of gold. Over the last 18 months as Avronna's CEO, we've tried a LOT of business models that didn't work (at least for now). Business model innovation is excruciatingly hard because great economics and great psychological drivers don't always overlap. God, these last 18 months have felt like 18 years of condensed learning. We're working hard with our (NDA) VC build partner on closing our seed financing. I feel like I'm just starting to really deeply understand our story. The main learning for me has been to avoid using analogies to explain ideas. Instead what I've learned is to try and make everything a noun as much as possible. Don't "Act Bigger" - "Act Big." Don't "Think Differently" - "Think Different." If you can turn your implied verb into a noun then it does the work of an analogy without the exposure of being misunderstood. Ideas have a time and place. I am sure several of the business models we tried for Avronna will eventually work for someone. But what matters most is that we've managed to survive long enough to learn what is the simple core idea that we can actually do now. I'm grateful for the high quality clients we've had; their quality reinforced our confidence. I'm grateful for all the former students and colleagues and past employees who have thrown in to help out. I even had one intern quit her job at a Big Name AI Firm and show up and demand I hire her. We are a bet that a relentless, curious, egoless intelligence will reshape health. Build the radical future.
