It was great recording a podcast yesterday with William Oluremi John because sparks always fly when questions go beyond the surface. Don't get me wrong. I love talking about how to memorize names and words and numbers. But there's so much more to memory techniques that I wish people knew about. Such as the Dr. Tim Dalgleish et al research into how Memory Palaces bring relief to people struggling with PTSD and worse... Dr. Gary Small's research into "passive memory exercise," that anyone struggling to recall things can use without having to build elaborate mnemonic systems... Anyhow, his podcast is really cool and I recommend checking it out. In the meantime, here's the art of memory at a glance. For the ineffable aspects you can expect when getting into the techniques, stay tuned for whenever he publishes the convo!

New Podcast Episode Alert! 🎙️ Hey LinkedIn fam! I am thrilled to announce the release of our latest podcast episode featuring an incredible guest, Sam Peterson. In this episode, we dive deep into the topic of mental health and its impact on veterans, particularly those in high-risk military occupations. Here are three key takeaways from our conversation: 1️⃣ The Hidden Struggles of EOD Technicians: Sam, a former Army bomb technician, sheds light on the alarming suicide rates within the EOD community. Despite the lack of awareness, Sam emphasizes the importance of addressing mental health issues among these brave individuals who face traumatic blasts and cumulative blast damage. 2️⃣ Alternative Therapies for Mental Health: Sam shares his personal journey of finding healing through alternative therapies like ketamine and hyperbaric oxygen therapy. These treatments have shown promising results in downregulating inflammation, rewiring the brain, and providing relief from symptoms of PTSD and depression. 3️⃣ Breaking the Stigma: We discuss the ongoing stigma surrounding mental health in the military and veteran community. Sam highlights the need for education and awareness to encourage veterans to seek help without fear of judgment or negative consequences. By sharing stories, data, and promoting effective treatment programs, we can change the narrative and provide better support for our heroes.
