Does science ever promise “too” much?    Well... Yes and No. 🤨    For example, medical technology is often accused of overcorrecting and overpromising. Scientific studies have shown that the development of digital self-diagnostics tools such as smartwatches can lead to misdiagnoses and overtreatment ⌚️ Either because we forget to visit our doctor, or because we visit too often.    But if science made no promises, we might see less results.    A promise is a great motivational driver!    “The Science Eye”, an optogenetic visual prosthesis for blind patients where the light-sensing cells in the eyes have died (i.e., photoreceptor loss), is such a promise currently seeing great development.     Once inserted, the tech of the implant is designed to transmit information through the optic nerves into the brain.
