📣File this in the, “I don’t typically post personal content on LinkedIn” file… But something happened recently that I can’t help but share with my network! ▶️Last weekend, I had the privilege to serve as a chaperone for the North Shore Chapter of Chicago, at the Midwestern Region Teen Leadership Conference (TLC) of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. 🏆Through some miracle, I was selected to receive the Distinguished Father Award for our Chapter. Like you, I’ve received reward and recognition experiences in my professional career, however this touched my core. ⭐️Parenting doesn’t come easily, but to be recognized amongst all the well-deserving Fathers in our Chapter is a humbling and prideful experience. Thanks for giving me a little space in your timeline to share. ❇️A little about Jack and Jill of America, Inc. The organization is comprised of 262 chapters nationwide, representing more than 50,000 family members. Each chapter plans annual programming activities guided on five areas of focus: cultural awareness, educational development, health (education and advocacy), civic (legislative advocacy and service) and social/recreational areas. ⭐️"Children learn more from what you are than what you teach." — W.E.B. DuBois ❤️Look what we did, Lynette! #Fatherhood #ServiceBeforeSelf #Parenting
Congratulations, Shelly Brown. Distinguished Father of the Year in JJoA is a tremendous recognition. With all that we strive to accomplish, parenting well is the pinnacle of success. My grandmother was one of the charter members of JJoA (Philadelphia, 1938) and I’ve had the honor of serving as their first National Historian and Archivist. I can’t imagine what the founders would think seeing what the organization has grown into. Little did they know! Long live Jack and Jill! #1938
Congratulations Shelly. Being the giant that you are, it stands to reason that the positives you pour into so many would be most deeply felt and recognized with your family. Well done, sir.
You are a distinguished father and great leader who gives back unselfishly
Congratulations, continue doing what you are doing!
Congrats! #06
This is wonderful Shelly!
I’m sure this one hit different. Congratulations!!!
Great job Shelly!
