BUSINESS + PURPOSE + ART + COMMUNITY = GOOD STUFF There is something irresistibly elegant when one creative act unites many cultural sectors in goodness for them and others. If there is a next act for capitalism, it hopefully will somehow consist of this. I first starting coaching Sam Rodriguez a few years ago when he had done something miraculous: The Black Lives Matter protests had started in Philly and all businesses had planked up their windows. Sam, a professional artist and now entrepreneur, seeing an opportunity to bridge his community, asked the businesses permission, and began to paint the plywood with beautiful and powerful messages of hope-- thereby letting the protestors and communities know these businesses supported them, the plywood was not againstness. Local communities joined in, needing an outside outlet during the pandemic, scaling the project. Sam saw a unique business/social-good dynamic and began to offer all businesses a dynamic way of connecting with their communities, beautifying the world, creating activations of good, while also promoting their brand. Sam's company, "Walls for Justice" is now thriving and just worked with Indego on a community activation that included giant warehouse murals, customized bike art, and a concert and cyclist community ride around the city, promoting bike transit. Bam, Bam, Bam, Bam. Emblematic for a new world of civic imagination, brand creativity, and community power.
