When Suzi Boyle, Branch Manager of Castle & Cooke Mortgage in Boise, shared part of her incredible personal journey at WICON, the audience was stunned. How had she survived the grief? How did she overcome? How is she so strong, kind and giving today? It’s quite the story. People were incredibly moved by her courage, her determination and her spirit. She had lines of Women wanting to meet her after her talk. She did what Suzi always does, she made a difference. 🌟 She turned her personal tragedy into a drive to serve and give above and beyond philanthropically. She chose who she would become in spite of life’s dragons, and shows us all every day how to do the same with joy.

"My parents have a lot of 'stuff' in their house. I don't want most of it." We hear you Allison Pohle and can relate. How many of us millennials are dreading what we are going to do with that 'stuff' one day? How are we going to know what to keep and what to sell, donate, or even rehome? How we going to know if we're tossing out a family heirloom or a thrift store find? Objects can't talk. They can't tell the stories, history, or value that they hold. That's why Ellen Goodwin and I created Artifcts® (an AgeTech Collaborative™ from AARP portfolio company). Artifcts lets you easily capture and share the history, story, and yes, even the value behind all your 'stuff.' Dreading the onslaught of 'stuff' from your parents or grandparents? Get them to Artifct. Better yet, get them to fill out our "In the Future" field that allows them to create a roadmap of what happens next to all their beloved 'stuff.' Your future self (and your siblings!) will thank you. https://lnkd.in/eMsMBE3h #agetech #downsizing #decluttering #innovation #wealthtransfer #estateplanning

We hear this ALL. THE. TIME. We also hear (and know) that the sentiment can quickly change once the next generation knows the story BEHIND the stuff. Knowing Grandmom bought those brass trays in Kathmandu is very different than thinking she bought them at Pier One. Stories matter. History matters. Stuff matters. Take time to document the histories, stories, and value behind your stuff today. We've made it as easy as 1-2-3 on our mobile app! #stuffmatters #downsizing #decluttering #estateplanning

So, I had to deal with my parents and brothers things and another family member is dealing with a close family members house and storage units and I have too much stuff so I can relate. Thought it an interesting concept in the below article. #organization #lifeplanning #seniorliving

Remembering the Oklahoma Massacre: A Survivor's Tale of Resilience Today, we remember a dark chapter in American history – the #OklahomaMassacre. As we commemorate the anniversary, we also celebrate the extraordinary life of its longest living survivor, Viola Fletcher, who, at 110 years old, stands as a testament to human resilience and the enduring spirit of hope. The Oklahoma Massacre, often overshadowed in history books, was a horrific event that devastated the thriving #AfricanAmerican community in Tulsa's #GreenwoodDistrict, also known as "Black Wall Street." On May 31, 1921, a mob of white residents, many deputized and given weapons by city officials, attacked the residents, homes, and businesses of this prosperous area. The violence lasted for 18 hours, leaving hundreds dead, thousands homeless, and an entire community in ruins. Among the survivors was a young child, barely five years old at the time. Today, Viola Fletcher is 110 years old. She is not just a living witness to one of the worst incidents of racial violence in #AmericanHistory, but also a beacon of courage and perseverance. Growing up, she carried the scars of that night – both visible and invisible. She lost family members, friends, and her home. The trauma of witnessing such hatred and destruction at a tender age could have broken her spirit, but it did not. Instead, it forged in her a resilience that has carried her through over a century of life's trials and tribulations. Her story is one of #TriumphOverAdversity. Despite the odds, she went on to rebuild her life, contribute to her community, and advocate for justice and equality. She has seen the world change in unimaginable ways – from the #CivilRights movement to the election of the first African American president. Yet, she remains a humble reminder of the work that still needs to be done to heal the wounds of racial injustice. As we honor her today, let us reflect on her words: "We must remember the past, not to hold onto anger, but to ensure that such hatred never finds a home in our hearts again." Her message is clear – remembrance is not about dwelling on pain, but about learning, growing, and striving for a future where every person is treated with dignity and respect. Her life story teaches us the importance of #Resilience, the power of #Community, and the unyielding pursuit of #Justice. At 110 years old, she is not just a survivor; she is a living testament to the strength of the human spirit. Let us remember the Oklahoma Massacre and honor the legacy of its survivors. Their stories are not just tales of the past, but calls to action for the present and future. In commemorating this anniversary, we commit to building a world where such atrocities are not just remembered, but never repeated. As we look into the eyes of Viola Fletcher, we see not just a witness to history, but a hero who embodies the resilience and hope that can lead us toward a better tomorrow. #OklahomaMassacreAnniversary #History
