Y’all still breaking records, and the reason why y’all’s store is averaging $6000 a copy ? Asking for a friend. For years I seen so many bragging about their accomplishments. They were beating their chest. Giving no credit to economic times, No asterisk, just taking all the credit. Look, I know about breaking records and about beating my chest. I managed a Chevy store that netted 10 Million Dollars in three years. ( 2015, 2016, 2017) I know how hard that was. How hard it was to build and keep that culture, how hard it was to pull those results out of thin air. You are either one of two things, and some of you are too green to know the difference. Your results are either process driven, or they are Market driven. Having big-time success simply do to the market is ok. I experienced that too. I ran a top 30 GMC store in the country the year following Katrina. But always gave credit to the conditions that caused that success. Just keep that same energy you had when you was King Kong now that the clock has struck midnight and you are now Curious Gerorge. #AllGasNoBrakes

We've just calculated that from the idea of opening the offline Garne store to its soft opening passed just two months. We think it's a very good result as for the first store. What do you think? #Garne #shopopening #storeopening

𝗧𝗼𝘆𝘀 “𝗥” 𝗨𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗠𝗩 Shoppers can now find the HMV brand in select Toys"R"Us locations in Ontario, a low-risk way to bring the retailer of CDs, DVDs, vinyl records, and collectors’ items back to life. #HMV sections can be found in a select number of #Ontario stores and will satisfy a demand that has remained since its departure from the Canadian market seven years ago. The dedicated HMV sections in Toys “R” Us locations will not promote competition between the two, as the offerings are different but complementary, and will create a secondary revenue stream for the #retailer who is part of Putnam Investments. Putnam Investments owns Sunrise Records and Entertainment, alongside Toys “R” Us Canada and Babies “R” Us Canada, which were purchased in August 2021 from Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd., Everest Toys, FYE, T. Sunrise Records and Entertainment acquired 100 stores across the UK in February 2019. #toysrus #collectorsitem #businessnews #canada #retail Photo credit: Rob Hainer / Shutterstock.com

International Business Development Manager at Meyer Seals Group®-The SEALutions company® | Supply Chain Management/Logistics, Business & Economics | All views expressed are my own
"Unlike Walmart, which remained in the Walton family, or Target, which handled its transformation from family-owned business to public corporation far better, Kmart underwent very early rapid growth and then began a long period of coasting and decline." "While Kmart has long been viewed as a sort of downmarket Walmart clone, it’s worth noting that Kmart came first—not just because the company that became Kmart goes back to 1899, but because the opening of the first modern Kmart in 1962 beat the opening of the first Walmart by a few months. It was not until the 1990s that Walmart became a major national player in the discount department store industry. It’s more accurate to say that Walmart beat Kmart at its own game than that Kmart failed to properly imitate Walmart." "Like Kmart, Howard Johnson’s made several attempts to revitalize its business. A parade of managers who had none of the personal investment of the chain’s founder, Howard Deering Johnson, successively took the reins. The company began to introduce new restaurant concepts, and it underwent a series of acquisitions as well as the division of its hotel and restaurant businesses. All of this flux and churn depressed morale, eroded managerial continuity, and left the once-great restaurant half of the company to fend for itself as its numbers dwindled." "Throughout this long, slow decline, nobody seriously attempted a “reboot” of the company; nobody bothered to attempt monetizing whatever goodwill the name still held, by, say, bringing back the real recipes of the famous 28 flavors of ice cream. That kind of investment or passion or capital was gone." "Despite the former ubiquity of both Howard Johnson’s and Kmart—and notwithstanding the nostalgia of their small communities of fans—both chains have left hardly a trace in the popular culture. In business, as in life, past performance is no guarantee of future results. The demise of Howard Johnson’s, and likewise that of Kmart, is a cautionary business tale. But it’s also a humbling and almost spooky story." 360' expert retailer / gmm / dmm / director of stores / store manager / conscious capitalist(social & climate justice) / start-up sustainable brand expertise and relationships (factories) / e-commerce start-up & logistic
I have never met Mr. Rosen but he seems to be an exceptional person, visionary, leader and results driven. Taking a historic brand and moving it forward step-by-step in a measured, intelligent, customer and brand/product oriented way. I mean this in the best possible way - it’s like he is a hybrid of old school best practices/training and applying that in a new and relevant way to change today and create a relevant brand that almost disappeared. To actually say that JC Penney does have a bright future is really mind blowing. #JCPENNEY #RETAIL #TURNAROUND #STRATEGIC #TEAMWORK
At JCPenney, we've always been committed to making every dollar and every trip count for our customers. Last year we launched our reinvigorated brand proposition, Make It Count, as a recommitment to standing with America’s hardworking families, and part of that recommitment included a self-funded reinvestment of more than $1 billion into our business to better serve our customers and enhancing our customers’ experience. We’re proud to announce that we’re ensuring our customers continue to feel rewarded for their #loyalty by aiming to deliver half a billion dollars back into their pockets and providing a more genuinely rewarding shopping experience. To do this, we’ve launched the new and improved JCPenney #Rewards and Credit Program, up to doubling the rate at which Rewards members earn points and giving our customers the opportunity to get more, earn more and save more during every trip. We’re here to support America’s diverse, working families in every way we can and are excited for our customers to experience these changes. What to look out for when shopping the high street. Check out my finds in M&S and go watch the video! And here are the 6 questions to ask yourself when you buy from the high street. 1. Am I saying ‘it’ll do’, if so walk away. 2. Does it get me excited, bring something new or elevated to my wardrobe? 3. Would I pay twice the price for it? 4. Do I feel amazed that I am buying it from here and not a more expensive store? 5. When I put it on do I hold my head up high and feel proud to wear it or is there a niggling feeling that I could do better? 6. How does it feel against my skin? Department stores are dead 💀 many pundits here on LinkedIn say day in and day out. Words like "dinosaur," "redundant," etc trip casually off their posts. They pile on in comments. Not towards the big box mass merchant department stores like Target or Walmart but the Macy's, Nordstrom, and Dillard's Inc. of the world. I was in Santa Fe this past weekend with members of the National Speakers Association. After dinner, Cara Brookins shared her love for a luxury purse she had purchased. Hammitt in Manhattan Beach made it. Tony Drockton, my friend and SalesRX client, is the CEO, so we made a video and sent it to him (below.) 👉 Cara Brookins discovered his luxury brand 2000 miles away from his California boutiques at Dillard's Inc. in Little Rock, AK. She never would have found it otherwise. That is what department stores do and the important place they hold. And when the discovery experience is met in a department store – it is memorable. She never would have gone online to buy that item. Full stop. Re-read that. Oh and Hammitt doesn't market by discount but quality. Can we please stop with the charts and graphs and piling on? Department stores are an important link in the retail chain. Let's give credit where credit is due and recognize the vital role department stores continue to play in connecting consumers with unique brands and fostering moments of serendipitous discovery that leave lasting impressions. #retail #customerservice #luxurygoods

What's up with La Mota? Interesting story from The Willamette Weekly in OR. "Whether it was the feds closing in, years of festering tensions, or something else entirely, Rosa Cazares late last week left La Mota, according to a text message between two La Mota managers, reviewed by WW." https://lnkd.in/eyZ9ppbM In terms of their current NM footprint, here is where La Mota stands: * Three operating storefronts. The first two (Clovis and Indian School/ABQ) opened in March of this year; the third location at 4th St/ABQ opened in September 2023. * All three operating storefronts reported less than $25k in sales last month. The strongest performer (Clovis) noted $24.3k in sales, a 69% increase over October * The 4th St storefront location has reported less than $1.8k to the CCD for each of its three months. November's total was only $1,760 in sales. * It appears that La Mota is additionally licensed to open retail in Deming, Grants, Jal, and Raton, but the timetable for opening additional storefronts still needs to be determined.
