An intriguing clash is unfolding between a group of over 50 organisations from different sectors of the European circular industry and the EU. The issue centres around the new Radio Equipment Directive which comes into force on 28th December. The directive mandates the use of USB-C chargers in all new devices, a move aimed at reducing electronic waste. The coalition of industry leaders, including the GSMA and major players in the used device market like Back Market, refurbed, and Swappie, are pushing back against the immediate implementation of the directive on used devices. They argue that the law should explicitly differentiate between new and second-hand devices, and that the USB-C requirement should be delayed for used devices until the technology is more prevalent in the second-hand market. This highlights the complexity of the issue and the diverse perspectives within the industry. My colleague Simon Bryant delves deeper into this fascinating clash in his latest CCS Insight blog post. I encourage you to check it out for a more detailed analysis of the issue. #circulareconomy #sustainability #ewaste #innovation #usbc https://lnkd.in/eUufynfe

Radio and wireless devices require new packaging and labelling of non-harmonized standards for CE marking. The radio equipment directive labelling of radio and wireless products is often confusing for both end users and, to a limited extent, manufacturers. Both ‘harmonized frequency’ and ‘harmonized standard’ are referenced within the Radio Equipment Directive (2014/53/EU) but mean entirely different things. The lack of charging infrastructure for #electricvehicles causes range anxiety and travel planning issues for #EVs, even though they could revolutionize the transportation industry. Due to differences in protocols and standards for managing devices, handling transactions, securing and charging smart devices, interoperability issues arise. To improve interoperability, stakeholders need to work together. Protocols like #ocpp and ISO 15118 need interoperability and seamless integration. See our article below for more details. https://lnkd.in/gqyp858c #electricvehicles #evcharginginfrastructure #evchargingstation

If you're around Zurich next week and would like to learn more about the latest developments in the #ISO15118 world regarding #bidirectional charging for #AC #V2G, then I invite you to sign up to the #V2X Technikforum (link in the post below). I'll be talking about the #AC V2G addendum for ISO 15118-20, hot off the press. It's still in a draft stage, but Switch (thanks André D. for leading this task force!) and our friends across the globe have been working hard to make sure that we can soon enable both EVs and chargers for true, #gridcompliant AC V2G #worldwide! This will be a game changer for cost-efficient V2G wall boxes and I know as a fact that several EV manufacturers would prefer an AC V2G solution (cheaper for the customer) but are currently bringing to market DC V2G solutions due to missing grid-compliancy for AC. This addendum will solve that issue. I know there are different opinions out there on AC vs DC V2G. Where do you stand? Do you think it will all be about DC V2G, AC V2G, or a mix of both? And why? Curious to hear your thoughts, let me know in the comments. 👇
The future is electric. While there are challenges ahead, there are opportunities too: Like bi-directional charging. New developments are continually happening in the #V2X space. Like #ISO15118-20 (Addendum) and #OCPP 2.1 standards. This is so we can enable #V2G for both AC and DC charging worldwide. Join Marc Mültin, Switch CEO and Founder, at the V2X Technikforum for a keynote on taking V2G for both AC and DC #standardkonform to the next level! 🗓️ 13 September 2023 🌍 Toni Areal, Room 3.K02, Zurich ⏳ Keynote @ 11:40 (CET) For further info on the conference and registration link 👉 https://bit.ly/45Uq4SG #MakeTheSwitch #electricvehicles #evcharger #evcharging #iso15118 #greentech

𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲! 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 This technology called AirCharge, in situations where the user is using the phone and intend to charge it wirelessly at the same time can be very useful. The good news is Infinix AirCharge operates at a safe low frequency below 6.78MHz, delivering reliable charging power of up to 7.5W. It is equipped with an end-to-end Resonance and Over Voltage Protection (OVP) Circuit that effectively safeguards the circuitry, ensuring charging safety even in scenarios where the distance and position between the phone and the charging pad rapidly change. __________________________________ #networking #informationtechnology
