The sweet sweet sound of the cash register ringing - this week was our highest grossing week since launch. Everytime I get that little notification from Stripe that we got paid, it feels surreal! It's taken a few weeks- felt like a few years, right Aditya Jagannathan? It is nice to see the return on all the hard work. We have 10x 🚀 our user sign up rate; we do more now in a few hours than we did in a whole week! A few learnings: OKR- I have done this at large enterprises but frankly it loses its power with all the dynamics at play; for us this a game changer. We only track 3 objectives and they are like a staircase/funnel. Started red across the board and then climbed the staircase to the top- paying and satisfied customers. Cash- Always knew it but realized the importance again. We transformed from an engineering war machine geared for rapid development to a business and were truly surprised by how efficiently we can run. Examining every $ out of the door got our fixed burn rate down by 80%!! Microsoft for Startups- special thanks to you here for the incredibly generous grant ($150K++) through founder's hub for all things Azure and more. This put ~25% of our cash flow back in our pocket instantly. We are proudly built on Microsoft Azure and I love it! (to all my ex-MS peeps, keep West US2 humming!) Relentless execution- Starting a new business is hard; every day is about fleeting doubts and unlimited problems. As a team, we consciously decided that we don't spend working time talking about anything outside of our core focus topic- which is a derivative of OKR's. This is a super power in moving forward with speed; our problems evolve constantly. Kaizen- Most all problems seem so large at the outset they can be paralyzing. Small steps every day is much much easier to do and keeps you motivated to achieve the next milestone. It has been an incredible journey so far. I talk to dozens of customers daily and listening to their stories is heartbreaking; we are glad to be part of the solution for them. Immigration is hard but it doesn't need to be and we will continue to work on making it accessible for all.
