I normally don't post about this sort of thing but it's really heartbreaking to see my stepson apply for job after job and either getting no replies, or being completely ghosted after he's offered something. This is super demoralising for him, and I can already see how it's starting to affect his selfworth, even though he's only 16 and he has his whole life ahead of him! So if anyone within my network has any pointers (or a job!) for a 16 year old who's really hardworking and smart, please let me know! *Disclaimer - this post has been approved by him :) #firstjob #ghosted #cornwall #teens #jobseeking
Wouldn't it make sense to say where he is, what type of job he's interested in etc. Should people guess?
Has he left school now? Is he looking for an appenticeship?
It’s so hard isn’t it. My niece is in the same boat - age 17 and at sixth form but can’t get an interview even! She’s now volunteering at a museum in the hope that the experience will help on her CV.
It's a trend here as well. Businesses aren't hiring younger teens.
Has he thought about starting his own business?

2wHey Sharim, my son went to all his favorite places to eat and asked for applications for part-time work. Some were rude, some didn't call him back, but he landed at a well-known fast food chain and then several months later a friend asked him to apply at his employer, a local pizza company. He kept an open mind and it's worked out so far- pounding the pavement and asking your friends where they apply is a great route. Hope your son finds something soon!
