My friend’s boss yelled at him in front of the entire office, humiliating him. Because he was 13 minutes late to work. 
“If you’re late again, you won’t have a job.” He wasn’t even given a chance to explain himself. My friend wanted to yell back, but bit his tongue, he needed the income. Over six months working at the company, it was the only time he had ever been late. On multiple occasions, he had even taken work home or stayed late to prove this dedication. During his lunch break he texted me: “I’m looking for another job, let’s talk later.” That’s how fast loyalty can be destroyed. Had his boss cared enough to ask why he was late, he would’ve known about his very recent divorce and newfound heart complications. Now, my friend will never stay late or take work home again. He will give his bare minimum effort until he secures another position. People leave because of poor leadership, to go where they may be heard and appreciated. Appreciation is more powerful than we think. It can change someone’s day. Or it can change their life. #shaneemoret #leadership #jobsearch #jobseekers

I worked in customer service for a local company and the owner called me on the carpet for what he deemed to be an error. The profanity he used in his tirade was beyond anything I had ever heard in a workplace environment. I did not respond until the next day when I went to him and said “You may choose to speak to your wife or your children in that manner but if you ever speak to me like that again, I will walk out the door never to return. I refuse to be berated in that manner.” I left the job a few months after that but he never raised his voice to me again.

I work for a company now that is such a fresh breath of air. Everyone always talks as "we" instead of "I". Everyone will take the extra time to help so not only does one person succeed but the whole company does then. A growing and nurturing environment. I have to many times been on the opposite end or seen this happen to other of this though and yes, it completely makes people stop caring and put in the bare minimum! To many people become managers who shouldn't have any power over other co workers. I will bust my butt for a great manager and I am so glad to say I have one now!

If he had been regularly late, boss could have asked for the reason, but what actually matters is whether he/she is completing the task assigned to them by/before the due date or not.

This is very well written. It is the truth. Even though we have a pandemic and I've been helping lots of people that were displaced due to the pandemic find new opportunities. Without charging the fee. 291 so far. From CEOs all the way down. There are over 300 people that currently have jobs, that have asked me to help them because they don't feel appreciated, heard, poor leadership and like this young man they give it their all and may have made one little mistake. So for somebody that's been in the people business for almost 40 years doing Sales& Leadership/ Talent Management/ Executive, Professional, Career Coaching and training, I could not have written this better. Awesome things you teach. Thank you so much for sharing this.

I do not know really how such people with full respect reach a leadership position where they lead a team?!!!!. They easily can destroy everything thing and it is not only the employee who came late. They would destroy the whole company. Those who put him or similar in a leadership position should not cry when they went into bankruptcy sooner or later!!!
