In a report today in #ESGInvestor , Investment industry bodies have emphasised the need for double materiality in response to the UK Government's consultation on non-financial reporting. https://buff.ly/3qKwaG9 #Materiality is based on the idea that not all sustainability issues are equally important and that companies should focus their reporting efforts on the issues that are most material to their business and stakeholders. What this will mean is a shift from purely financial reporting to a structure where profit is only one key metric for a business and will hopefully mean that all businesses will have a purpose far wider than just money.
