What steps are taken when historic structures are impacted by new construction? For the Seven Generations Architecture & Engineering team that worked on the Oyate Health Center, preserving the history of this site and its ties to the community would become an ongoing effort known as the Rapid City Mitigation Project. Tasked with completing nine activities, the team worked to mitigate the impact of the Oyate Health Center’s construction on a site that was once home to the Rapid City Indian School and the Sioux Sanatorium. The site’s long Indigenous history spans centuries, and the work of our team will ensure this history is available to people today and for future generations. We are excited to share the journey of the Rapid City Mitigation Project and invite you to read the full story on our website: https://lnkd.in/gbnW7tKV #HistoricalPreservation #CulturalHeritage #CommunityImpact #MitigationActivities #SouthDakota #TriballyOwned
