Well, that was fun..! I decided to test an upcoming activation concept for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana by running a mini version myself. I’m happy to reconfirm that peer-to-peer fundraising is alive and well! 🎉 And no�� it does not need to be tied to an event or special occasion. In a little over 24 hours, I exceeded my goal - raising $1,500+ from 24 donors. Here's what worked: ✅ Great Tech: A seamless and straightforward platform and donation process thanks to my BFF Fundraise Up. ✅ Individual Donor Recognition: Every single contribution was celebrated - personally and publicly! ✅ Regular Updates: I kept the momentum going with live progress shares. ✅ Personalization & Storytelling: Every message came straight from me, with personal anecdotes wherever possible. ✅ Mission Tie-In: I made it clear why donations were so impactful at this specific moment in time. ✅ Multichannel Communication: I reached out to my community through texts, social media, and email. Make their voices heard. In the UK, there are about 800,000 identified young carers and 1.7 million children in England with long-term health conditions face a heightened risk of mental health challenges, academic struggles, and missed educational opportunities. This can result in long-term social isolation, wellbeing issues and lack of opportunities in adulthood that affects the whole of society. So why are young people's needs overlooked, especially when they are vulnerable? Why are local youth zones, essential to ensure safe spaces for children and young people who don't have that at home or school, massively underfunded? Why do local authorities and schools fail to provide sufficient support and especially mental health support to children and young people living with challenging health conditions or difficult situations at home?
