The eye is in the (big!) detail! 👀 👀 and its new partnership with DocuSign   The $5m Series A round was led by Jackson Square Ventures, with participation from DocuSign Founder Tom Gonser, as well as existing investors DocuSign Ventures, GoodPaper Ventures, Digital Future, and The LegalTech Fund.   DocuSign is the #1 way to send and sign documents, with over 1.5m clients and 1 billion+ users globally. DocuSign and OneNotary have entered into a formal partnership to integrate OneNotary into DocuSign’s range of notary solutions. ⚡ Three lessons learnt from being repeat founder: 1) It does not take a lot of funds to start working on MVP (Minimum Viable Product) 2) Angel investors have disproportionate amount of value-add relative to traditional VC's in most cases - angels punch above their weight at early-stage 3) Pace of shipping product is the most important to maintain momentum other than customer delight 🚀

If investors knew what worked, they wouldn't have such a high write-off rate. Asking your network for intros to clients is a more valuable use of your time. Today I had a great chat with Başak Güröz about how the number one thing companies are looking for from accelerators. It's introductions to investors. Pre-revenue, pre-product doesn't matter "Investors please" is the first thing she hears. Başak and her program manager peers have incredible access to companies and execs. Leverage this incredible resource to talk to potential clients, sell, get their money! You'll be doing yourself a favor and make it easier for investors to come to you. How can you ensure the first go to market hire is a winner for a small 10 person team just figuring out their product ? I’ve witnessed too much weight put on the shoulders of the first GTM hire (VP Sales, VP Marketing, CCO / CRO) when there isn’t realistic expectations and alignment from the Board and Founders.

I love a good offsite! Beyond the learnings and the strategising and the planning, and beyond the deep conversations with other founders and investors, there's something magical found in stepping away from the noise of the day-to-day business and getting some clear headspace. I remember a great talk by Glen Richards where he said that founders need to 'lift their line of sight' and for me that is what these offsites do. But the biggest takeaway is always the cohort of epic humans who share a similar path ahead. This particular offsite combines personal growth with venture growth, mixing the two to help founders scale internationally.
