Great to be with Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) at their Electrified conference listening to manufacturers and other businesses talk about innovation and challenges towards helping UK to achieve net zero climate commitments by 2030. Inspiring to hear how businesses are collaborating to reduce the 20% carbon contribution from the transport industry, the majority of which comes from road vehicles. Sustainable economic growth seems like the theme of the day so far.

Here comes a strong signal on the need for immediate green results 🤝 Together with multiple other Nordic companies that share our green ambitions we have signed a CEO statement on climate action. Today, our CEO Andreas Enger attended United Nations Global Compact’s reception event at COP28’s Blue Zone. Important event. And an important message to everybody who is watching. We need action. And we stand together in our demand for and pursuit of just that. At Höegh Autoliners we walk the talk. And with a USD 1.2 billion dollar investment in our new Aurora Class, we have secured 12 of the world’s largest and most environmentally friendly PCTCs, with the first ones being delivered already by next year. A unique action in the deep-sea shipping industry. And something that in just three years have gone from inspirational dream to one of the most tangible decarbonization projects in international shipping right now. With Yara International confirming availability of blue and green ammonia as well as our engine builder Hyundai Heavy Industries confirming willingness to build ammonia engines for the last four Aurora vessels to be on the water in 2027, we are making real progress. And real progress is exactly what is needed right now. Not glittered words or good intentions. But firm action and real progress. We want to be net zero in 2040. Because there is no alternative to a green future for our industry! #SailingForSustainability #AuroraClass #ClimateActionNow #TheFutureIsGreen

We scored an A- from the CDP for our actions aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating climate change-related risks – for the fourth consecutive year! Nokian Tyres is committed to fighting climate change so that also future generations can enjoy the winters as we know them. Last year we for example started the construction of the first zero CO2 emissions factory in the tire industry, joined the Polestar 0 project aiming to develop climate-neutral premium tires, and reached one of our key climate targets seven years in advance. The annual CDP Climate Change report is deemed one of the most trusted indicators for performance on corporate climate change mitigation, and scores A and A- represent leadership level. The CDP is a non-profit organization that runs a global environmental disclosure system for different organizations on environmental transparency and action on environmental questions. #nokiantyres #climatechange #tires #tyres #tireindustry #tyreindustry #sustainability

🌍 Green Mobility: From Slow Lane to Fast Lane 🚗🚄 Join our panel debate at COP28 and online! 🔍 Focus: The essential role of finance in transitioning the transport sector. Despite being a "slow lane" sector due to decarbonisation challenges, transport remains critical for a holistic shift towards sustainability. This panel delves into the entire value chain of mobility, spotlighting electric vehicles and extending the conversation to flying, shipping, and railways. 🚢🚆 🤔 Key Question: How do we move this important sector from the slow lane to the fast lane? 📅 When: 6 December 2023 – 9:30-10:15 GMT+4 local time / 7:30-8:15 EET 📍 Where: The Nordic Pavilion at COP28, Opportunity Petal, Zone B6, Building 75 📺 Livestream: https://lnkd.in/d5qqXM-Y 🎙️ Speakers: - Evalena Falck, Vice President, Head of Strategic Accounts at Scania Group - Jonas Otterheim, Head of Climate Action at Volvo Cars - Luca De Lorenzo, Head of Sustainability & Mandate at NIB 👨💼 Moderator: Jukka Ahonen, Head of Communication at NIB Don't miss this insightful session! #COP28 #GreenMobility #SustainableTransport #ClimateAction #ElectricVehicles #SustainableFinance #NordicPavilion #NordicSolutions

Yes we can: 1. Work with regulators to achieve smart regulations that match technological and economic means, 2. Establish Green Corridors which are transitioning to renewable power, infrastructure and grids, 3. Build capacity in the Global South, and 4. Unlock a scalable renewable fuel supply.

ONE SHIP, CATALYZING AND SYMBOLIZING A GIANT MOVEMENT What an amazing event – to go onboard Laura Maersk in the Center of Copenhagen, knowing that it is NOT JUST A SHIP: it is the realization of a whole new business system with customers willing to pay a green premium, a shipowner and operator investing and operating a new type of ship, yard and technology providers (not least the engine) delivering a new solution, ports handling a new fuel, fuel producers investing and delivering a new fuel and authorities approving completely new solutions and operations. An extremely well-organized event by our partner A.P. Moller - Maersk where business leaders emphasized the urgence, the need and willingness to lean in, and policy makers and regulators explained about the future upscaling incentivized/driven by public sector, and confirmed the importance of visionary and courageous leadership with willingness to collaborate. Private and public sector hand-in-hand with vision and leadership! And all that coming together and symbolized by the beautiful dual-fuel methanol powered ship, Laura Maersk: WOW!! And timing could not be better! The ship is delivered at a time when the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) has just committed to reducing the industry GHG emissions according to very strong decarbonization targets, and to a two-year timeline to concretize the regulatory measures. This means that over the next two years, we need to see many more tangible examples of how shipping can decarbonize in a scalable manner, how regulatory measures can drive the industry and what the implications are. And then - in 2025 - reach adoption of the global regulatory measures that will drive an entire industry to zero GHG emissions. For the Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping to support the industry-wide movement I will be in New York this week for the UN General Assembly /Climate Week to meet with leaders in public and private sector to plan concrete action to continue towards a scalable and sustainable transition: 1. IMO roadmap actions until 2025 to mature the regulatory measures (technical and economic) 2. Green Corridors to initiate and catalyze action (like Laura Maersk above), and inform the IMO eco-system 3. Global South involved in the ‘just and equitable’ transition with opportunities, for example to produce green fuels 4. Scalable fuel supply – concrete steps to unlock investments in the needed fuel supply infrastructure in time to enable IMO targets to be met, or to go even further towards the IPCC 1,5deg scenario Again, kudos to the Maersk team and eco-system – all the way from the Board to the specialists, suppliers and approving authorities. It is one big step for a shipping company – which will help catalyze one giant leap for the shipping industry. Robert Maersk Uggla, Vincent Clerc, Ursula von der Leyen, Knud Erik Andersen, Morten Bo Christiansen, Roel Hoenders, Uwe Lauber, Concepción Boo Brian Davis Morten Bødskov
