Happy to share the results of a long-lasting collaboration between Giuliana Tromba of our Phase Contrast Imaging Node in Trieste and #EuroBioImaging user & Scientific Ambassador Christian Dullin of the Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences & The University of Göttingen 👏 . Together with their teams, they have developed a novel setup on the Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste beamline leading to high-resolution tomographic images with 7x better details and 2-3 times less exposure than traditional CT. They explain how this game-changing setup works in a recent paper “Pulmonary phase contrast CT imaging – A novel setup at the Italian synchrotron for the study of fresh lungs at human scale” in the European Respiratory Journal of ESR. 💚 Why we love this story? ✅ It shows how collaboration within the European Research Area leads to excellent science. ✅ Strong potential for translation to clinical applications with positive implications for human health. ✅ The experimental setup is available in open-access to all pulmonary scientists when they apply via Euro-BioImaging (www.eurobioimaging.eu). So good to catch up with Peter McCulloch, Art sedrakyan, Jane Blazeby Hani Marcus A real priveledge to spend time with Pedro Ramirez author of the now world famous LACC study. Also good to see Josh Burke I see such a place for IDEAL in surgical innovation. Need more academic units to sign up to the idea.
