"Tearing up the traditional #biotech playbook": Interesting Editorial just published this month on Nature Biotechnology (#NatureBiotech), explaining that disruptive science today is more expensive and risky (10-15 years) and there is an imperative need for researchers and entrepreneurs to collaborate and have multidisciplinary teams. Australia’s synthetic biology future is accelerating into overdrive — CSIRO and Main Sequence have today released an updated roadmap showcasing how SynBio could unlock over $30 billion in revenue and 50,000 new jobs in Australia by 2040. 💪 Looking back on Australia’s initial SynBio roadmap in 2021, the  ecosystem has continued to evolve, welcoming new innovators, funding and support for the burgeoning sector, including: 🔬 A total of $44.5 million awarded for research projects related to synthetic biology ⭐ 16+ new synthetic biology-enabled start-ups and spin-outs created 💰 $363 million in capital investments raised by 17 Australian-founded synthetic biology companies Working with startups such as Cauldron Ferm, Samsara Eco and Uluu, we know that Australia’s SynBio industry represents a huge opportunity for our future, and this is only the beginning.
