The Department of the Treasury's Office of Investment Security issued a proposed rule to amend the list of military installations around which the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) has jurisdiction. The proposed rule adds 40 installations to CFIUS's "close proximity" (<1 mile) jurisdiction; adds 19 installations to CFIUS's "extended range" (<100 miles); and moves eight installations from CFIUS's "close proximity" jurisdiction to its "extended range" jurisdiction. The proposed rule also updates the names of 14 facilities already subject to CFIUS's jurisdiction, among other things. The proposed rule vastly expands the reach of CFIUS's real estate jurisdiction, and including by adding new installations in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Guam, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia. #CFIUS #nationalsecurity #realestate #foriegninvestment #FDI
