“What! You too?” Perceptive article on partnership in innovation from HBR - it most definitely challenges some of my thinking about collaboration and ideation with large groups. "#innovation #partnership #collaboration #ideation #HBR Reframing the idea is easier to do with one other person. At the beginning of your innovation journey, your idea is just a half-backed intuition. To avoid getting stuck in unpromising explorations, you need someone who challenges you but in a supporting fashion — someone who shows you what does not work in your current approach and steers you onto paths that have more potential. Getting someone to abandoning some of his or her original assumptions and embrace new perspectives is a delicate process. While open critical feedback is crucial, the way it is delivered must be handled with care, especially when an idea is unorthodox and initially fragile. It’s hard for large teams, which are also notoriously prone to groupthink, to play this role.

Meet Xavier. As Co-founder and Managing Director, he revels in the multifaceted nature of his role, ensuring excellence across all business units. He's a firm believer in the transformative power of feedback, stating "the reason why we know that we're on the right track has been this steady stream of feedback from our customers." For Xav, the success of IonOpticks hinges on a cohesive team with a shared outward-looking vision, always prioritizing the benefits to our customers and the broader realm of human health. "We believe that this elite level of chromatography should be available to all researchers affordably. By doing that, we elevate the entire industry, making it more accessible and allowing more researchers to delve into proteomics and mass spectrometry to enhance their research." 'The IonOpticks Way’ is a mini-series that showcases the people behind our famed technology. “We started with scientists, as opposed to starting with the ‘chiefs,’” says Krish. Regardless of position or level, a singular attribute is required for all Krystal employees: an ownership mentality, which is not the same as a managerial, executive, or an employee mentality, explains Krish. “If you think of Krystal as a coffee shop, no matter who comes in first, they are willing to clean the dishes, load up the doughnuts, or turn on the lights.” #grnwindsor #lifescienceindustry #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #ceoleadership https://lnkd.in/gj_CN-hx

Important topic of chronic pain here. I'm looking forward to joining in the conversation about leading concerns that can be addressed by neurotech.
Advances in identifying brain biomarkers that enable closed-loop neuromodulation for disorders like chronic pain and depression will be one of the themes at the 2023 Neurotech Leaders Forum in San Francisco, November 6-7. Prasad Shirvalkar from University of California, San Francisco and Christopher Rozell from Georgia Institute of Technology will describe some of their latest research at the conference. https://lnkd.in/geMDEE-s

Founder and President at The Sway Effect PRovoke Media 2024 Boutique Agency of the Year PRNews 2023 Women Owned Agency of the Year PRWeek Hall of Femme, Board Member
Our clients are part of what makes The Sway Effect and our growing network special. Last month, we launched a new Q&A series called Four Questions and after a great response, we've decided to make it a part of our monthly activity. For August, I had the privilege of connecting with Kristen Cardillo, VP, Corporate Communication and Government Affairs at 10x Genomics. It's a very important time for 10x and spatial biology, particularly as we see more AI-powered technologies like 10x's Xenium disrupting the wider biotech industry. In fact, 10x and its CEO Serge Saxonov believe that 80% of all cancers will be addressed with AI tools by 2050. Let's jump in! #FourYearsofTSE #WeWillGetThere 1. You have worked in healthcare communications for 20 years. What advice would you give to your younger self just starting out in the field? You can do anything, but not everything. I still tell myself this regularly. I love to take on new challenges and stretch creatively, so I often need to remind myself that there's power in prioritization. I’d also tell my younger self that if you make career decisions based on how much you'll learn and the new experiences you'll gain, you can never go wrong. 2. What inspires you the most about working at 10x Genomics? I’ve spent my entire career working in healthcare and biotech, yet this is my first time on the life sciences side. It’s extremely motivating to be on the very leading edge of research and to have your company’s technology be the driving force behind some of the biggest breakthroughs transforming what we know about health and disease. The people at 10x are brilliant. I’m lucky enough to work with some of the smartest people in their fields who push through the hardest challenges, always strive for more and yet stay incredibly humble. The team both challenges and inspires me every day. 3. What career milestone isn’t on your resume? Throughout my career, I’ve been a part of more than 20 transactions ranging from tuck-ins to transformative deals, spin-offs, and divestitures. It’s a special opportunity to help companies navigate this process, shape how stakeholders on both sides view these moves and show how communications can maximize the impact and value of a deal. I’ve also been fortunate enough to have worked for both the buyers and the targets, which gives me a unique vantage point and makes me a better advisor and communicator. 4. Why did you choose to work with The Sway Effect? Jen came highly recommended by a former colleague of mine (who has a very high bar). In a previous role, we brought in The Sway Effect, and the team very quickly delivered impressive results and helped reposition the company from a medical products manufacturer to a medical technology leader. When I joined 10x, I was eager to re-connect with The Sway Effect to help tell the company’s story and mission more broadly. Jen and her team know how to find the story and have a real bias for action and drive for results.
