In the developed world, the United States is the most dangerous place to give birth—especially for women of color. Grasping the extent of maternal health disparities is the first step in being able to provide support to expectant mothers in your community. This is the work of SEMPQIC - working to address the alarming maternal mortality rates for Black women in Southeast Michigan. #maternalmortality #Healthdisparities Learn more at sempqic.org

Black Maternal Mortality This week is beyond challenging. What is happening in the world is making it hard to get out of bed…. And then this comes across my FYP. This person made comparisons about medical death…. For who you ask? Black Women having a SINGLE… ONE child. I just… notice a theme. The people the US & the world as a majority just don’t seem to care enough about to create change all seem to have one particular trait in common. #blackmaternalmortality #Blackmothers #medicalneglect #changenow #medicalracism

The World Health Organization estimates that roughly 10% (190 million) of all women and girls of reproductive age are affected by #endometriosis. According to McKinsey & Company, the Global Burden of Disease estimates this figure to be 1 to 2%. At Ada, endometriosis is our second highest women’s health condition and nearly 75% of the time, the condition is suggested to women and girls between the ages of 12-29 who have engaged with related symptoms. And yet, on average, it takes 8-11 years for a woman to be formally diagnosed. Whether rare or prevalent, silent or loud, at Ada we know the importance of helping people put a name to their condition so they can begin their care journey. 💙 🎗March is #EndometriosisAwarenessMonth. To all the endo warriors out there, keep on fighting.🎗 #EndoWarrior #EndometriosisAwareness #WomensHealth #ReproductiveHealth

We have four core areas that are important to us, and maternal health is one of them. The high and increasing mortality rates in the United States require urgent attention. Of particular concern is the high mortality rates among Black women. In recent years, maternal health outcomes for Black women in America have garnered widespread attention, particularly amidst the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic. These alarming statistics, highlighted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), paint a distressing picture: Black women face a maternal mortality rate nearly three times higher than that of white women, with 69.9 deaths per 100,000 live births in 2021. As we wrap up Black Maternal Health Week 2024, I am inspired by all the powerful voices and action behind the movement to improve outcomes for expectant and new moms. Our extreme maternal morbidity and mortality rates among Back moms in the U.S. are unacceptable. Together, we can - and will - do better. We will improve access to care, safety, protocols, and policies – and, perhaps most important, we will engage moms in their care and educate them on the warning signs and symptoms of complications. Let’s give them the language, tools, and confidence to self-advocate and describe what they are experiencing to their healthcare providers. Patients are “the most underutilized resource” in solving our maternal-child health crisis. #BMHW24 #WarnerSlack, #maternalmortality, #maternalmorbidities, #improvingbirthoutcomes, #indicatehealth, #wecandobetter
