The Biden administration has designated 31 regions in 32 states and Puerto Rico as technology hubs, aiming to stimulate private investment and job creation. This initiative, authorized by the CHIPS and Science Act, allocates $500 million in grants to disperse innovation across the U.S. President Biden and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo announced the program, emphasizing its potential to revitalize communities that have lost economic opportunities. The focus of these hubs spans various industries including clean energy, AI, semiconductors, biotech, medicine, quantum computing, and critical minerals. The selected regions aim to decentralize technological innovation, moving beyond major cities like San Francisco and New York. While designees can apply for up to $75 million in federal funding, due to budget constraints, most won't receive a grant.

Today, the US Government designated 31 communities across the country as Regional Innovation and Technology Hubs. Each hub has an opportunity to apply for up to $75 million in grants for investment in technologies across innovative industries such as semiconductors, clean energy, biotechnology, and artificial intelligence. According to Bloomberg, in an article published this week, Biden Awards $504 Million to Tech Investment Hubs Across US. This funding will go to 12 regional technology hubs to expand research in areas such as artificial intelligence, #semiconductor #manufacturing and clean energy. This goes on top of traditional innovation centers. The New York hub, focused on semiconductor manufacturing, will receive $40 million.
