In order to make a #biogas plant fit for the future, it needs to be adapted to the current market conditions. One possible strategy is #interconnection.    Depending on the market situation and the country, it can be economically and ecologically viable for different biogas plants to cooperate by interconnecting their plants.     That means: Several biogas plants supply raw biogas to a central biogas processing plant.    There, the biogas from all participating plants is upgraded to natural gas quality and fed into the gas grid as #biomethane.    This reduces the cost and effort for each plant operator and diversifies the risk among all participants.    Where interconnection is not possible, substrate switching or conversion may also be the appropriate biogas plant concept for existing plants.     For more information, see the previous posts of this series. ℹ️    The final post of this series looks at the biogas plant concept of a "new construction". 

This is a major development as the Biogas market is growing rapidly and needs scalable solutions. Methane is a potent greenhouse gas, and capturing it from sources like landfills and farms helps combat climate change. The Biogas industry is critical for achieving a #circulareconomy. Biogas technology converts waste products into usable biogas, reducing reliance on landfills and creating renewable energy. This innovative #LCA software is pivotal because it directly supports the expansion and operational efficiency of the biogas industry, a critical component in the renewable energy landscape. P6 Technologies and Joe Berti software allows companies to quantify the amount of methane captured by their biogas facilities thus supporting the growth of this industry, ultimately contributing to a cleaner environment and a more #sustainablefuture.

With success and growth of the US biogas industry, comes more scrutiny. That's expected. As a result though, I find myself answering these three questions more often than most others: 1. Do biogas systems make farms larger? 2. Does biogas production mean gas pipelines have to be used? 3. Have incentives included in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) impacted growth in the biogas industry? SYSADVANCE is rolling out another METHAGEN system for biogas upgrading from Anaerobic Digestion, treating chicken manure feedstock, to be installed in Latvia. The METHAGEN will treat 2000 Nm3/h of biogas on a first phase, expanding later to 3000 Nm3/h. The system will deliver biomethane with more than 97% CH4 purity for grid injection @17 barg. Additionally, our client will obtain a stream of BioCO2, with more than 98.5% purity, which will generate an extra commercial revenue. SYSADVANCE’s system will deploy ca. 15 million Nm3/year of biomethane, equivalent to 150 GW/year, with one of the lowest energy consumptions in the market, becoming one of the largest biomethane production facilities in the Baltics.
