These sessions showed L'Oréal's commitment to staying ahead by using technology across its operations. Their use of AI and data analytics for personalized beauty experiences was fascinating. I'm inspired by L'Oréal's vision and commitment to positive change through beauty and technology. It reminds me of the potential when beauty, technology, and social responsibility come together. In conclusion, the Beauty Tech sessions left a strong impression. They reinforced my belief in the power of beauty and technology with a meaningful purpose. [FSD Reflection] Explore The Beauty Tech Landscape with L'Oréal 💄✨ The beauty industry is always "on the move", driven by the evolving needs of our customers. Today's beauty lovers are all about that seamless, personalized, sustainable, and inclusive experience. And guess what? This demand has given rise to the incredible world of beauty tech! The global revenue for beauty tech skyrocketed to a whopping $3.8 billion USD in 2021, with a remarkable CAGR of 18.8% (Caliò and Şabanoğlu, 2022). As a beauty tech enthusiast (who devoted my final assignment essay to writing about beauty tech and L'Oréal), I was thrilled to listen to anh Chau Huynh - Talent Acquisition Manager at L'Oréal sharing about the beauty tech landscape and L'Oréal. ✨ What impressed me the most is  L'Oréal’s quote “Freedom to go beyond, that’s the beauty of  L'Oréal”. L'Oréal empowers employees (and candidates) to be completely themselves, take risks and create the unthinkable.  ✨ A small detail that inspired me a lot: Although L'Oréal focuses on the beauty industry from the very start, L'Oréal “chooses the battle” wisely to strive for better growth. L'Oréal chooses to “play” in the FMCG playground, competing with FMCG giants so that the company is not in its comfort zone and is always “fast-moving”. Listening to anh Chau Huynh’s sharings about L'Oréal, even though it was an online session, I can feel the enthusiasm and pride that he has when working at L'Oréal. Unlocking Beauty Tech: Insights from L’Oréal | 9th Reflection on the FSD Program In this session, Mr. Chau Huynh, our trainer, provided a deep dive into the world of the L’Oréal Group, and it was nothing short of enlightening. What stood out prominently was L’Oréal's unique identity as a "beauty tech company" rather than a traditional beauty entity. Their commitment to using technology as a transformative force in the cosmetics industry resonated with me. They utilize tech to personalize beauty, foster inclusivity, offer virtual dermatological care, refine product formulation through science, and elevate the overall retail experience. One particular quote from L’Oréal's founder left me pondering: "A company is not walls and machines, it's people, people, people." This statement beautifully encapsulates the importance of valuing and nurturing the human element within an organization, no matter how technologically advanced it becomes. It's evident that L’Oréal places a significant emphasis on its global workforce, and this approach has undoubtedly contributed to their success. As I reflect on these insights, I can't help but think about the broader implications of technology-driven transformations in traditional industries. How can other sectors learn from L’Oréal's example and harness technology to stay relevant and customer-centric? This session has sparked my curiosity about the intersection of technology, innovation, and human-centric values in business. At the The Consumer Goods Forum Global Summit earlier this June, Nicolas Hieronimus, CEO of L'Oréal, shared a core belief that resonates deeply: Despite the transformative power of technology, the fundamental human experience of beauty will endure. Earlier this year, Innosight recognized L'Oréal as one of five “Consumer Transformation Leaders” – companies that are turning industry disruptions into opportunities. L'Oréal is deep into its transformation to a “beauty tech” company – moving from traditional cosmetics manufacturing to integrating advanced technology within its products and services. This shift has spurred continuous innovation, fostered new partnerships, and expanded their global consumer connections. Importantly, L'Oréal is committed to building a robust data infrastructure, operating model, and tools to make more agile, data-informed decisions, and fostering a culture of innovation. Nicolas made it clear that while L'Oréal is building new capabilities around data and technology to drive greater personalization, performance, and inclusivity, their success ultimately relies on keeping the consumer at the heart of their strategy – not just meeting but anticipating consumer needs by merging technology with human imagination, creativity, and innovation. He emphasized that the future of beauty, though powered by technology, will be deeply shaped by our humanity. Together, we embarked on a two-month journey to develop a groundbreaking artificial intelligence assistant named L'ORA. With L'ORA, users can effortlessly determine their hair types and discover the perfect hair care products tailored to their needs. But our project goes beyond just beauty; we're passionate about sustainability too. That's why L'ORA encourages users to recycle their old products, promoting a more eco-conscious approach. 💄 Reinventing Beauty within the Digital Space with L'Oréal. 💄 In an era where the intersection of technology and beauty is reshaping the almost every industry’s landscape, L'Oréal continues to lead the charge with their pioneering initiatives. Being so submersed in today’s Digital and Technological world, it can be easy to lose your way with every new advancement or work out where to start for any business. This is particularly true within Health, Beauty, and Cosmetics. So where can Digitalisation play a pivotal role within this space? It appears that some of the most well received and stand out technologies in the Beauty space have come from L'Oréal. This has ranged from revolutionising how we shop for beauty products with AR. This allows for virtual try-ons meaning experimenting with a new look as never been easier, as well as the creation of new products that use the power of AI & Data to create bespoke foundations, lipsticks and skincare that take account for weather, UV rays and your own personal skin type. What is it though, that has made these so well received? I think it has to do with how L'Oréal have listened to their customers, gathered insights on their wants and needs and created products that will truly help people on their cosmetics and beauty journey.
