So what’s our mission all about? We want to help you understand our story. Well first of all, we’re a team of past hospitality staff and businesses owners - we know the industry intimately. And though Slinger started off innocently enough to connect businesses with hospitality talent…we quickly realised what does and doesn’t work when it comes to hiring people. The way things currently are is broken - and there has to be a better way. Sifting through hundreds of CVs, a listing collecting dust on job board, a few people showing up to the interview to not even have a worker you’re happy with 😓 We also believe staff deserve to be treated and paid fairly once they’ve accepted a job. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗺.. 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿... 𝗠𝗲𝗴𝗮. 𝗦𝗲𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲? Last month, I wrote a post that went a little bit nuts... well ok, it went a bit more than nuts, and ended up on LinkedIn news. 😂 The post was all about how we have made the decision not to recruit grads into our entry level positions. A couple weeks later Megan Farrow also did a post that got wildly out of hand... 1M impressions and counting... about how the flexible approach we take working at co&co really helped her out when she needed it. 𝗪𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗺. ...And although I didn't know it at the time... the best recruitment tool ever. Cue Prim, who saw both of these posts and thought, 'I fancy a bit of that'. She took the chance to shoot her shot. 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗺 𝗱𝘂𝗻𝗸. 🏀 Out of the 41 people who DM'd or emailed me about coming to work at co&co, Prim is the only one I replied to. 𝗪𝗵𝘆? 👉 She took the time to look into the business. 👉 She demonstrated how she matched our culture. 👉 She was humble and owned the fact she had stuff to learn. 👉 She didn't act like she was doing me a favour by wanting a job. 👉 She was confident, enthusiastic and incredibly switched on when we met. 𝗢𝗵, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗲 𝗮 𝗯𝗮𝗱*𝘀𝘀 ✌️ So, here is Prim. The latest member of the co&co gang. Recruiting is a truly unique profession, and most people don’t graduate college wanting to be in the recruiting industry. The same can be said for our Managing Partner, Corey Walker, who accidentally stumbled into the recruiting industry. According to Corey: “Like many new college graduates, I had no idea what I wanted to do for a career. Recruiting sort of just found me. I had worked throughout college in the restaurant industry and knew I didn’t want to continue down that path. Randomly, I received a phone call from a recruiting firm and the rest is history. For me, recruiting has been a perfect fit for my skill set and passion. At the end of the day, I love being in a profession where I can change someone’s life with one phone call.
