🚀I'm thrilled to share that our team at Generation Esports has successfully transitioned from AWS to Google Cloud Platform (With the help of Searce Inc). The experience, customer service, and cost savings (66%) have been unparalleled. 🔥 It began in October when a Google Cloud representative reached out to understand our needs. They quickly identified how they could help us transition and offered to conduct a cost-free analysis. Google took this on themselves, demonstrating their commitment to supporting us. The analysis showed potential savings of around 20% on our AWS bill. For a startup like ours, saving 20% on cloud expenses is significant, but even more crucial was maintaining our team's focus on delivering value to our customers. Google Cloud assured us they’d handle the migration, allowing us to concentrate on what we do best. Despite our initial apprehensions, we reached out to AWS to see if they could help lower our bill. Although they initially seemed willing, after several meetings and months of back-and-forth, it became clear they lacked the resources or attention to assist us effectively. On January 1st, we decided to accept Google Cloud's offer. They brought in an experienced contractor who took charge, and over the next three months, we collaborated on constructing Terraform files and managing the full migration. A special shoutout to Elijah Smith for leading this project! Now, after a couple of months in production, we’re thrilled to report that we are saving over 66% on our monthly cloud bill with Google's Google Cloud! This significant cost saving allows us to reinvest in other areas of our startup. Thanks to Google Cloud’s investment in our migration, they’ve earned a customer for life. In conclusion, Google Cloud’s customer service is leagues ahead of what AWS offered. Customers ask all the time how #googlecloud can save them $$$. Traditionally, our platform is 20% savings over other cloud providers. If you are willing to transform your ecosystem, that is where you can achieve 50%+ savings. When moving from on premise to cloud or cloud to cloud, it is not about lift and shift. Firebase started in 2011, raised a Series A in 2013, and got acquired by Google for a nine figure sum in 2014. ❗Notify Me Weekly Update ❗ Hi all 🌻, here is a Notify Me update for this week 📣 Updates: 🔹We have 1942 users (+45 since the last update ) 🔹Number of paying users: 4 (+0 since the last update) 🔹MRR: $24.96 🔹Monthly costs on GCP: ~$80.11; Hetzner: $9.34 🔹Got some interesting results about false positives, we’ll hopefully get some heuristics we can use to increase quality of the changes further 🔹We kinda went of rails with building competitiontracker so we are still in the middle of migrating from google cloud to hetzner 🔹Once again, a happy user from reddit brought us 20+ signups in a day by recommending us in a few subreddits 🔹We have a big problem with converting free users to paid users. We’ll try credit based subscription soon and see how that goes ✅Do’s Even if you don’t think that you going out and talking about your product is making a difference, compound effect of those little things will help you get more traffic at some point. Anything is better than just building in silence ❌Don’ts Try not to get caught up with a new shiny thing syndrome. For those #Startups out there that are unsure whether your product should go on to a #Cloud #marketplace. Let me help you decide. OmniIndex we have 2 products on the Google Cloud #Marketplace as one of the Google Cloud Partners. These products bring in around one third of our monthly income. It took around 10 days to get the applications there, we link from our web site & of course we let people know that they can go and install, use and play without any interference from us!!! And, it seems that they do. In addition the #marketplace #analytics provides us with the knowledge that the applications are in continuous use. Which means #more #revenue.
