I am excited to announce that I have taken on a new opportunity as the Chief Revenue Officer of the newly launched Chicago Sports Network (CHSN).
Last summer I had an opportunity to partner with my very good friend Jason Coyle to present a vision of the future of sports media to Standard General Managing Partner Soo Kim. Jason and I conceptualized a business model focused on the direct relationship between fans and franchises. In a joint column we published today on Sportico, we refer to this fancentric approach as the “affinity economy.”
When we presented to Mr. Kim, I never imagined that in less than a year we would have the opportunity to pursue the vision together. However, with Jason and Chicago sports legend Brooks Boyer’s leadership, we will have the opportunity to do exactly that as Standard General is partnering with the Chicago Blackhawks, Bulls, and White Sox to develop a fresh approach to a regional sports network.
Over the last few weeks we have started to put together an outstanding collection of sports executives. Our sales team will be led by Philip Bedella and Paul Johnson. Dan Jones is leading marketing, comms, and experiential efforts. Another long-time friend and former Facebook Live business partner Adam Anshell leads team partnerships. Joe Riley, a rock star Executive Producer leads all production. Emily Qualtier leads our HR efforts with a focus on bringing a vibrant and positive culture to the network.
My responsibilities at CHSN will include all revenue, digital product, digital content, and research/analytics, while working closely with the franchises who will be with us every step of the way. I have a great amount of admiration and appreciation for Jerry Reinsdorf and Michael Reinsdorf, Danny Wirtz, and Soo Kim for providing me with the opportunity to grow their business. Big cap tip to Brooks Boyer who has been and will be a huge lift every step of the way.
And of course to my long-time friend Jason Coyle, the President of CHSN, for the confidence and partnership. Together we built a vision in New York. We will now have the opportunity to bring it to life in Chicago. Let’s Go!
