Today, Sealing Devices Inc. welcomed students from Alden High School's Bulldog Manufacturing group. Bulldog Manufacturing is a completely student-run company based out of Alden High School, providing real-world business experience in an educational environment. From CEO to Marketing Manager, every role is filled by either a Junior or Senior from our small WNY district. Today's visit allowed the students to tour Sealing Devices facilities and see our operations at work. It was great to share our shop and industry insights with these enthusiastic students. We look forward to seeing their future achievements. https://bit.ly/4bqarW6 #FutureLeaders #STEMEducation #Manufacturing #StudentRunBusiness #SealingDevicesInc #BulldogManufacturing #AldenHighSchool

Over the past few weeks, I have been reflecting on our business journey. It's a testament to our team's dedication that we've weathered many ups and downs and are still thriving 41 years on. My stepfather, Paul Norman, a time-served toolmaker, started the business. (Fun fact: Kier Starmer's father was also a toolmaker—remember that line from the election campaign?) My dad and grandfathers were also toolmakers; I thought that was what all dads and grandfathers did when I was growing up! Although my stepfather is now semi-retired, he remains deeply invested in our company and keeps abreast of all that is happening. Today, Chris Wrenn (Technical Director) and I run the day-to-day operations with our fantastic and loyal team of 23 employees. Our commitment is not to the bucket and spade market, where high volumes and low margins often measure success. Instead, we focus on providing specialised, high-quality plastic injection moulding solutions through niche, low-volume manufacturing. This approach allows us to tailor our services to the unique needs of our clients, reinforcing our identity as a company that truly cares for its customers. As we continue to grow and adapt, I am immensely proud of our team's resilience and dedication. We look forward to many more years of delivering exceptional products and service. How have you adapted your business strategies to meet the changing needs of your industry? #BusinessJourney #Manufacturing #Toolmaking #FamilyBusiness #LowVolumeManufacturing #InjectionMolding #SpecialisedManufacturing #QualityOverQuantity #CustomerFocused #ManufacturingIndustry #ukmanufacturing #madeinbritain #madeintheuk

The best are getting bigger. The future is getting more circular…
In line with our commitment to sustainability and local manufacturing, Malpack's expansion plans involve lifting the roof and vertically expanding our soon-to-be ‘Mega Site’ to accommodate nine additional extrusion lines equipped with the latest technological advances to be installed over the next five years. The initial phase of this strategic investment will primarily focus on the capabilities to produce blown films, enabling the company to manufacture agricultural bale wrap and stretch hoods locally in Ajax, Ontario, to support its North American customer base. This expansion is expected to add up to 80 new jobs to Durham region. How does one join large rolls of soft goods together? ...are you surprised i'm going to tell you it's with a Merrow Machine ;) Our partners build amazing equipment with Merrow. This video was taken yesterday: a dozen new railways getting ready to ship. Most knit, woven and non-woven materials are created in rolls. These rolls need to be joined together for important processes (Dyeing, Scouring, Bleaching, Mercerizing ...) Merrow and Monti are used to automate the process: to create perfect seams that will hold up to the difficult processing environments and then easily be removed. Learn more about Monti: https://montimac.it/en/ Learn more about Merrow: www.merrow.com #merrow #monti #knits #wovens #nonwovens #textilefinishing #manufacturing #sewing #machines #automation Fabio Monti ANDREA MONTI Ramon Molano Kasey Hereth Maurizio Cerliani

Concerning the magnitude of the political mistake made by the reuse quotas for industrial and commercial packaging in the PPWR, which would - probably unintentionally - lead to a complete ban on many packaging formats in domestic B2B transport from 2030 the Association of German and European Mechanical Engineering Companies VDMA has drafted a statement. Everybody should understand that the whole process of end of line packaging is threatened #palletizing #taping #banding #strapping #wrapping #hooding #labeling, and many more. It’s time to act! Contact your local politicians and MEPs and ask them to join and to support those who have realized that a mistake can be corrected. Post and repost relevant content and take the time to read it. Recommending e.g. Martin Engelmann

The words "compact" and "packaging machinery" may not typically go hand-in-hand, but for Blue Bell Creameries, Delkor's Trayfecta S Series Former met the mold. Not only did it fit the space perfectly, its ability to run multiple carton sizes on one machine meant maximum production efficiency. #DelkorPackaging #theDelkorDifference #NationalDairyMonth #testimonial https://hubs.li/Q02CDZ9M0

Celebration, partnerships and memories - something to trumpet about! Thank you to the Metal Packaging Manufacturers Association for all of this and more at the Annual Dinner for the Metal Packaging Manufacturers Association held last Friday at the Drapers Hall, in association with the Worshipful Company of Tin Plate Workers alias Wire Workers. Taking part in an event in a hall with such a rich history is a real privilege and also a powerful reminder of the part business plays in shaping our world today. There are 111 livery companies in the City of London, the first established in the 12th century by groups of tradesmen, craftsmen and merchants with similar skills and interests. Wireworking has been in existence since the 15th century, making objects such as needles, fish hooks, cages, chains and traps. The craftsmen formed a guild and were granted a Royal Charter on 29th December 1670 in the reign of Charles II called “The Trade Arte and Mistery of Tynne Plate Workers als Wyer Workers of the City of London”. Today about 90% of tin plate consumed is used for can-making and packaging, with the balance utilised for light engineering applications. Metal packaging and products, made from steel or aluminium play a vital part in delivering sustainable targets, metal being unique as a material because it is infinitely recyclable. The metal used in the first cans of the nineteenth century could still be in circulation today, perhaps in the kettle or car you use, highlighting the value of this material in preserving the planet’s precious resources. Metal packaging helps reduce waste in other ways too. Food in metal packaging has a significantly longer shelf life than in any other packaging material, while also maintaining the food’s nutritional value. Part of our work for the MPMA and member companies is to convey these important messages to business and consumer audiences, to ensure that metal remains as relevant and practical in our everyday lives as ever, while protecting the planet for generations to come. The Livery companies also continue to serve a vital purpose through their education, charitable work and career support. So that really is something to trumpet! #metalpackaging #drapershall #mpma #metalrecyclesforever
