Happy 1st birthday to us! Today marks 1 year since the launch of Wicker Basket although it feels like we have been on this journey forever! To be completely honest, diving into this very competitive RTD (ready-to-drink) beverage industry as a small company (just me) seemed like a little crazy idea at first 😅 Coming from a bartender background, this industry is a whole new game. Starting with the concept and experimenting with flavours was just the beginning. Then the reality of the relentless challenges starting with building a brand, learning about marketing, figuring out finances and funding, the list goes on. At times I find myself overwhelmed by the whole thing and it feel as though my brain is literally about to explode. I have had more than a few sleepless nights and there will be plenty more for sure. But through it all, I have learned to take things one step at a time, focusing on each small and manageable task. Slowly but surely, I have been piecing things together as best as I can because that's all I can do! The real joy in all of this? Knowing that something as simple as a can of drink has the power to brighten up someone's day, to become a part of their memories. It is the thought that the drinks I have created and the brand I am building can bring a little happiness into someone's life. So here is to another year of growth, challenges and hopefully many more happy memories made over a delicious tea spritz. Join me on this journey, and let's see where it takes us! Silent Auctioning for a Cause… Yesterday was incredibly busy, which is why I could only send out updates late last night. I apologize for not getting to it sooner. This basket offers tons of incentives and amazing opportunities, a highly valuable item that’s definitely worth bidding on. 3.) Our family has had so many homes... I've always tried to document our goodbyes when we leave one home behind in favor of the next. Here's one such video as we prepared to leave our little apartment in Japan called "Sugiyama Mansion" (where the word "mansion" simply means "condo"—It's a French word, I think). I've never found saying goodbye to any home difficult. It's like saying goodbye to a delicious meal, or to a beautiful sunset, or to a long and full day of good living while resting my head on my pillow when it's time to sleep. I always instead wonder what meal we might enjoy next, or what the coming sunrise might be like, or what fun and interesting adventures tomorrow might hold. And it's like that now as Yumiko, Emily and I prepare to say goodbye to America again. Just another life in the rear-view mirror. Another collection of memories to hold and remember from time to time—but mostly to forget. As there's simply still so much out there to experience and live new today and tomorrow yet to come. Maybe this is why yesterday is always so easy to let go of... Our lives always moving forward and on. This post doesn't have a specific purpose, I just felt like jotting down a little something, so here it is: I hit the slopes today after a five-year hiatus from snowboarding. Last time I tried it I ended up with a cracked humerus. Imagine this: getting off the lift – just like I've done a million times before – and bam! Pain, nausea, and a doctor who confidently concluded I had "really squished my shoulder". No X-rays, just a prescription for taking it easy. Turns out, it was broken. Fast-forward to six months of physio and ortho visits (they're like your BFFs when you break things). So, you can imagine the anxiety during today's drive to the mountain. Once on the lift, it got even worse. Many deep breaths and choice words directed at nature, against all odds, I survived and happy danced for a few too many seconds. This experience reminded me of my current job hunt – stress and overwhelm all rolled into one. But hey, I'm not ready to hang up the snowboard or the laptop just yet (especially since my bank account is nowhere near ready for retirement). And imagine the happy dance when I land my new job! Lesson learned: if you ever face plant, skip the confusion and head straight to the X-ray room. Here's to facing fears, job hunts, and snowy slopes with equal enthusiasm!
