While commoditizing transportation may yield immediate cost savings, this strategy often results in increased long-term expenses. The hidden costs associated with lower service quality, including delays, damage, and the administrative effort required to manage numerous broker and carrier relationships, can negate the initial financial benefits. Choosing a smaller asset-based motor carrier can offer several advantages for shippers, particularly those looking for tailored services, flexibility, loyalty, and a personalized approach to their transportation needs.

Culture Wars and the Workplace -- AAPEX, the Automotive Aftermarket Expo, presented a program by Jessica Hinman entitled "Companies and the Culture Wars: How or Whether to Engage in Political and Social Discourse." Her focus was on companies who are, at times, caught in the maelstrom of politics and social issues in a very politicized environment. Think Disney in Florida or Bud Light. And, we've all experienced the COVID pandemic where the restrictions became politicized and during which employees and non-employees reacted to companies' policies both negatively and positively. Ms. Hinman discussed the risks companies take by ignoring political and social positions. To her, these include problems with recruiting employees and employees resigning or engaged in "quiet quitting." To her, employees want to work in a safe place and obtain benefits to which they need. Also, some employees may expect their employer to "take a stand." If taking a stand, Ms. Hinman set forth how companies should react to the public, the company's stakeholders, and to the company's employees. The program will be available in the future at www.aapexshow.com. As an employment lawyer, I am concerned about the legal implications. Should companies take politically sensitive positions at all? Or, must companies recognize that many, if not all positions, are politically sensitive to some employees and to segments of the public? Therefore, I urge human resource professionals to take an active role in the internal discussion when the company is going to take a politically divisive position. Recruiting challenges and resignations are interesting implications. However, I also am concerned about legal risks. For example, if an employee experiences an adverse employment action, will that employee allege that the company's or the employee's position about a political, racial, sexual or religious issue caused the company's action? In my view, like Ms. Hinman, I recommend that companies -- and human resource professionals -- need to be prepared to respond, manage reactions and keep employees informed of the company's positions and actions. In addition, I recommend that companies consider adopting a policy limiting workplace discussions to topics which are job related and consistent with the business necessity, and that political, religious and sexual discussions are not appropriate in the workplace. #employment #HR

We are excited to share with you that this morning the official ground-breaking ceremony for our expansion project of our plant in Stans was held. We are creating 1,700 square metres of additional space for for a highly innovative new production line. With an investment of 15 million euros we are not only showing our commitment to our high-tech plants in Austria, but also looking to the future of manufacturing. New standards and regulations, especially in the automotive industry require new tools and new highly innovative production processes. Hard-coated brake discs, already found in the e-mobility industry will become the new overall standard and require grinding tools. As of autumn 2024 we are ramping up production in Stans with a new and fully automated production line. Mayor of Stans, Michael Huber and Barbara Thaler, President of the Tyrolean Chamber of Commerce were our guests at the ceremony and welcomed the exciting project for the local community as well as the Tyrolian economy. #Tyrolit #Innovation #StansExpansion #groundbreaking #emobility #euro7

Blast from the past! Flashback to the last 392 days at #Maersk – it’s been an epic saga filled with shipping containers, air freight, warehousing, and end-to-end solutions, the occasional coffee mishap, and a tapestry of unforgettable moments! Thanks to Stig Kirkegaard for the initial leap of faith and now to Michael Elgaard Jakobsen, whose unwavering guidance has illuminated our path, his heart mirroring the vast expanse of our cargo ships. Let's linger on the theme of reunions, a subplot that adds depth to our narrative. Who could have foreseen Marcus Eklund, the architect of the legendary 'Company Leader Calling Raven' mantra, assuming the helm of the Hunter organization within #Maersk? It's a twist worthy of a primetime sitcom, injecting an exhilarating unpredictability into the fabric of my career journey. It's even more remarkable considering that Christian Nyth and I, both, reported to Marcus Eklund during our tenure at TNT, an alignment that adds a fascinating dimension to our shared journey. Consider Franz Goller, who once served as my boss at DFDS, traversing from Volvo Cars to DFDS with customs duties in Leipzig, a whirlwind journey punctuated by hearty "guten tag" exchanges before the first sip of morning coffee. Then there's Christian Nyth, my partner in crime from the TNT days. We've come a long way from roaming the streets as Field Sales to now converging at #Maersk. It's almost as if fate decided we needed a sequel. As our circle closes, anticipate more laughter, more success, and a tighter grip on our competitors. Watch out, for we're charging ahead into the future! Signing off with anticipation, Ned 🚀 #Maersk #Teamwork #Innovation #Success #FutureReady #Collaboration #Growth #Opportunity #Leadership #Achievement #Inspiration
