I saw a pretty wild statistic the other day via the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation: At the most competitive colleges, students from the bottom economic quartile represent 3% of enrollment. Meanwhile, students from the top economic quartile represented 72% of enrollment! This "undermatching" is a real problem in college admissions and is exacerbated by insufficient counseling resources at schools. Luckily, college access organizations help fill this resource gap. One of our favorite organizations is Matriculate, which is completely virtual and free! This year, Matriculate will support over 4,600 students and are still accepting applications for new high school seniors.
