Giving Day at Cornell Law School is also Pi Day (3.14)! In honor of all our favorite Pi(e)s (🥧🍕♾️), here are three ways you can be a “piece” of something bigger: 🎓 Fuel scholarship support for talented students. Today, 8 in 10 Cornell Law students receive scholarships and financial aid. As a result, the debt load of students at graduation is lower than it has been in many years. With your support, this exciting trend will continue. 📚 Provide resources to Cornell Law’s unique clinics and practicums. These programs help Cornell Law students acquire the practical skills and experience to represent a diversity of clients in need of legal services. Your support funds 27 specialized clinics and practicums that provide life-changing learning opportunities. 🇺🇸 Support veterans in need of legal services. The Veterans Law Practicum provides a vital service to our community’s veterans. With your help, we can expand our services, and enable students and faculty to increase their caseloads. When we join forces as one Cornell Law community for #CornellGivingDay, we can make a remarkable impact. Join us on Thursday for celebration of the promise and potential of the next generation of Cornell lawyers. Learn more here: https://bit.ly/3PcrFNG

1. While I am not one for accolades and awards (I’d rather just get the win/accomplish the goal and enjoy the process along the way), thank you to those that nominated and supported me to be recognized as a Rising Star in this year’s Super Lawyers List. You are too kind and thoughtful, and I appreciate your words and actions. this includes you Ken Nim. I am looking forward to continuing to build and help others accomplish their goals. 2. I spend a lot of time reflecting on the legal industry and its role in business and with people. Whether you are a solo practitioner, boutique law firm, medium sized law firm, big law, or in-house, we all can contribute in meaningful, different ways to businesses and the people who help them. Accordingly, I ask you: what are some of the top traits that you like in an attorney? Conversely, what are some of the top traits that you dislike in an attorney? Happy Fourth!!!
Cole-Frieman & Mallon is delighted to announce the selection of Counsel Brett Bunnell to the 2024 Super Lawyers Northern California Rising Stars list. Super Lawyers is a research-driven, peer-influenced rating service of outstanding lawyers who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. #Justice comes in many forms - recognizing the past, hearing from others, and taking steps to move forward are huge steps. This reminds me of important conversations I had recently with Dr Nayr Ibrahim about #Apartheid in South Africa and Tove Mentsen Ness at the recent conference about #Sami and #Indigenous people Nord University. Thinking about incorporating deep thinking around social, economic, and environmental justice in #learning in pedagogy and teacher training for the betterment of today and the future. #ResearchMatters #EquityandInclusion #HigherEducation #EducationalLeadership #TransformativeLeadership #LifelongLearning #TeacherTraining #SocialJustice #Reparations #TruthandReconciliation

What does justice truly look like in situations like this? Is it simply admitting him posthumously, or can more be done? I think you know what I think. What about you? "More than 160 years after being denied the opportunity to practice law in Maryland, a campaign has been launched to get one Black man admitted to the Old Line State’s bar. Thanks to several attorneys familiar with his story, Edward Garrison Draper’s legacy will no longer have an asterisk next to it. On Thursday, Feb. 16, a panel of scholars and historians gathered at the University of Baltimore to discuss Draper and how race and slavery stopped him from being the first Black man to be a lawyer in the state of Maryland." #blackhistory #racism #college #lawschool #lawyer #law https://bit.ly/49aPIoK
