Well, the cat's out of the bag; after 11 years with Keller Williams, significant change both in the industry and in our business, has lead us to look at opportunities outside of the company. While I personally benefit greatly from the access Keller Williams gave me, I couldn't deny that my business partners (agents and staff) deserve access to wealth building and leadership opportunities in a different model. After spending time with Tamir Poleg & Sharran Srivatsaa and developing significant respect not only for the company they're building, but for the humility and grace that they're building it with, we've decided that Real is about as "Flourish" as they come. (also much gratitude to Joe Herrera & Spring Bengtzen, and countless other colleagues and mentors who shouldn't get tagged or they might lose their jobs for helping us make this decision.) I can't stress enough how grateful I am for Gary and the leadership team at KWRI. Our evolution beyond the model certainly doesn't mean that the model doesn't work for most agents. I leave with nothing but respect & gratitude for the company, for the relationships it's fostered, and for the completely different person I have become over these 11 years. Committing to the Code with Berkshire Hathaway Nestled amid the ancient, wild oaks beneath the Topatopa Mountains is the Ojai Valley Inn, one of the most spiritually uplifting hotels in all the world. Ojai is a mystical place and the atmosphere is deeply calming, a refuge from the turbulence and horror of the headlines and the dysfunction of Congress. Martha Mosier, President of California's Berkshire Realty group asked me to present my keynote and Code Method to a few hundred of their best performing luxury market realtors at a company retreat in magical Ojai. My simple and transformational process is all about re-engaging individuals with their core purpose - a way to motivate, inspire, and bring people together through a commitment to being better, and helping others be better too. As we know, interest rates have rocketed over the last year which has had a direct negative impact on real estate sales. I asked the audience to text me a single word that described how they were feeling right now and I built an instantaneous word cloud. In many industries, over the last 3 years since covid hit in February 2020, the most frequent words have been stress, anxiety, depression and disconnection - I call it a SADD Mindset. This is from a data set of over 250,000 attendees of my program. Surprisingly, even during the current tough real estate environment, the two most frequent words from the Berkshire team were "grateful" and "inspired". A testament to a positive culture and positive leadership. During my program everyone spends 15 minutes writing their Code - a simple distillation of purpose - 12 lines, each beginning with "I will...". After writing, team members share their most resonant lines of Code. My two favorites that represent Berkshire's warm yet committed culture: "I will lead by lifting others" "I will inspire others to achieve greatness."
