Purchase Officer I Mechanical Engineer I Procurement I Supplier evaluation I Negotiation I Inventory management I Supply chain management I 📉 Achieved 15% cost reduction through localisation.
From purchasing internationally to sourcing and buying locally, my journey and key lessons! It has been a while since I have been working as a Purchase Officer and I would like to share my experience - Problems faced when buying internationally: 1. Higher cost of goods. 2. Longer lead times for production. 3. Indefinite transit times depending on various conditions. 4. Higher safety stock needed at our end resulting in higher investments. Challenges faced while buying locally: 1. Matching the quality of international goods. 2. Evaluation and selection of the nearest local suppliers possible. 3. Dependency on multiple vendors, due to fear of sudden closure of their business. Benefits of localisation: 1. Much lower cost for the same product quality. 2. Lower lead times and immediate delivery in case of urgent requirements. 3. Transit times can be estimated more accurately. 4.Reduced requirement of safety stock leading to much easier inventory control. If you have any similar experiences in this field, please do share them in the comments. #30dayslinkedinchallange #vocalforlocal #procurement #purchasing

🛑 Do Not Accept an Offer Without... 🛑 The last number of weeks, we looked at the must-have points to ensure you get the most value and transparency in your procurement process. Here is the summary of the 6 most important capsules we covered, in case you missed anyone 😉 : 💡 Capsule 01: Detailed BOQ (Bill of Quantities) Many suppliers still provide offers without a detailed BOQ. Without this, it’s impossible to define the scope of your purchase, leading to misunderstandings and potential cost overruns. 👉Always insist on a comprehensive BOQ to understand exactly what you’re paying for. 💡 Capsule 02: Technical Specifications Specifications like Material of Construction (MOC), capacities, and options are vital. These details help in making informed decisions and comparing offers fairly. 👉Ensure these are included in the commercial offer or attached as a separate technical document. 💡 Capsule 03: Detailed Unit Pricing Unit pricing is the main condition for transparency. Some suppliers might bundle prices to hide high margins on some items. 👉Always ask for detailed and itemized pricing for every component and option to make the best decision and negotiate effectively. 💡 Capsule 04: Makes & Origins Knowing what brands and origins of equipment and components are extremely important. Some suppliers might want to withhold this information for flexibility in the negotiation process. 👉Insist on these details to ensure you obtain quality products and services. 💡 Capsule 05: Inclusions & Exclusions Clearly defined inclusions and exclusions in the commercial offer prevent misunderstandings. These can include items, options, services, or documentation. 👉 Make sure to get all exclusion details to avoid unexpected costs and delays. 💡 Capsule 06: Financial Terms Financial aspects such as payment terms, Incoterms, installation and commissioning fees, packing, transportation, necessary tools, and any associated costs like travel and accommodation for installation teams are critical. 👉Clarifying these elements helps in addressing risks, optimizing costs, and ensuring a smooth procurement process. By reviewing and negotiating these elements, you can avoid risks, manage costs effectively and facilitate a seamless procurement process. 🚀 Let's elevate the industry together! 🚀 PS, the french version will be in the comment 👇 #procurement #BestPractices

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀: 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 Many times i used to take my daughter in park to play and every time she plays on different equipment's always, but the most demanding is a swing, every kids wants to play a swing. wants to play more and more time a swing, Due to sudden surge in demand and less supply every kids can not play a swing or they needs to adjust a playing time with a swing. But if park authority keep more a swing for kids then their wont be no unique ness will feel by kids and that's why park authorities used to keep 3-4 a swing in each park, which maintains the constant demand and supply of a swing same is applicable in procurement when buyer wants to buy commodity, buyer always have good chance in negotiations of commodity product because their is always many player in the market who sales the commodity product same or alternate product from the market when buyer looks for specific product for which very few seller are available in the market, might be newly invented product, high quality product or demand of the product is high and supply is in limited then buyer needs to work out to get the best price as well as a BATNA. But Why buyer needs to work out of the box ➤ Limited alternatives in the market ➤ Distinct value propositions that are not easily comparable ➤ Customization requirements that demand creative negotiation solutions ➤ Building long-term relationships with sellers for ongoing support ➤ Addressing inherent risks through innovative risk-sharing mechanisms Buyer always needs to think as well as act differently in every situation like in Development, Negotiation, Vendor Management though the situation remains common many times ========== DM | Follow #Shreyaschanekar to navigate these complexities and drive Vendor Relations, cost optimization and development, sourcing and procurement ========== #sourcing #productdevelopment #globalsourcing #importexport #scm #supplychain #supplychainsolutions
