This week we sadly got to say goodbye to a great man, a real trailblazer and true maverick, if I’m honest that’s my kind of hero. Peter was the man to give me that one chance I needed. He saw something in me, believed in me, supported and trusted me, but above all he challenged me. Although I didn’t appreciate the latter at the time. He became the father figure I never had and the one whose respect and acknowledgement I craved the most. The person I am today was born out of those early years supporting Pete and his wife Val as they founded a company based on doing business the right way. Today I am responsible for leading that Business. Remembering Peter this week was also a reminder to me that whilst it’s important to do things right, it’s more important to do the right thing. It was also a reminder that life is too short. If you’ve taken time to read this post, maybe it’s time to think about what’s holding you back and stopping you from fulfilling your full potential. Maybe it’s time to be more courageous, take more risks and remember if you fail, then fail fast. Maybe it’s time to find someone who truly believes in you, that sees something in you others don’t, someone that challenges you to be the best version of yourself. If your environment offers you this then cherish it. Renovation versus Rebuilding Life generally is based on principles. In other words events can be replicated several times when same principles are followed irrespective of who applies them. Successful organizations thrive on systems and processes that are beyond the owners and founders of such organizations. Organizations built around individual owners and founders are limited by the capacities of such owners and founders. Systems and Processes when replicated tend to replicated the same result and much more especially if the principles of success are followed irrespective of who is applying it. However at some point in the life of an organization, systems would need to be re evaluated and there would always be the need to either RENOVATE the system or REBUILD it. Knowing when to RENOVATE systems and when to REBUILD is very key. As we all begin to wrap up the 2023 Financial Year and begin to prepare for the next Financial Year and we draw out our strategies, we should not forget to do a re evaluation of our Systems and Processes. DON’T renovate systems that need to be REBUILT and don’t REBUILD that needs to be RENOVATED. And if you don’t have SYSTEMS in place and day to day operations are at the mercy of the discretion and dictate of of one individual then you should consider BUILDING if you plan to scale your level of success.

However, a plan is merely an outline, devoid of the lifeblood that brings it to fruition. This lifeblood is belief, the unwavering conviction in our ability to achieve our dreams.
