As I have been travelling in California, I could not miss the Perfect Corp. event in San Francisco this week with an exciting keynote about the latest exciting developments from Alice Chang and the conversation between Kelly Kovack of BeautyMatter and Tara Hyland from Main Post Partners, that focused on the impact of technology, personalization, and investment in the beauty industry. Kelly and Tara discussed the importance of due diligence in the investment process and the need for scalability in personalisation and customization. Tara emphasised the significance of understanding the consumer's needs and the scalability of personalised products. They also highlighted the challenges and opportunities in the current investment landscape, cautioning founders to be mindful of overvaluation and the importance of finding the right investment partner. In conclusion, the conversation shed light on the evolving landscape of beauty investments, the need for strategic and discerning investment decisions, and the importance of aligning with the right partners. It also emphasised the significance of understanding the consumer's evolving needs and the scalability of personalised products in the beauty industry. We will continue this conversation at the next INNOCOS summit on April 7-9 in Napa Valley, sponsored by Perfect Corp www.innocosevents.com

Through the summer this year I took the opportunity to connect with a few industry leaders and subject matter experts to hear their thoughts on luxury and luxury hospitality. Each fireside chat was an opportunity to pause and reflect as we look ahead. Here's a conversation with Selina Neri, PhD, a highly regarded Corporate Academic and Professor of Leadership and Corporate Governance. An advocate for developing robust business strategies underpinned by data and research, she has a particular interest in luxury and is a champion for academic research in the sector. During this thought-provoking discussion, she shares valuable insights and key takeaways for consideration. Dr. Selina describes a pyramid of classification that defines a tiered approach to the ‘rich’, and the various attributes of each segment. SHNWIs for example seek out privacy and exclusivity for many reasons discussed, while the HENRY’s (High Earner’s Not Rich Yet) travel to share their experiences on social and tell the world they are travelling. Touching on the fascinating topic of ‘Generation Alpha’ – the first generation born into technology, she highlights how they will live longer and healthier lives, extend their studies and enter the work force later – all of which impact how we as brands should engage with them and cater to their varying needs. Intrigued and want to hear more? Simply click on the link: https://lnkd.in/d26kC9eb It's a little over 30 mins but some great insights. #luxurycustomer #HENRY #GenAlpa #luxuryhospitality

BETAH’s Director of Business Development and Growth, DeJuan Price, MBA, PMP, APR, is at ColorComm, Inc.’s 8th Annual Conference in Miami to learn with and from fellow key players, top performers, and thought leaders in the industry. This event is the ultimate business conference and retreat for 400+ women of color in communications to come together to exchange ideas, insights, and connections while providing a safe place to address relevant issues from like-minded individuals. One of DeJuan's favorite sessions was “Generations in Media,” a discussion about different generational trends with Maria Marin, Author and Motivational Speaker, Michelle Lee, Allure Editor-in-Chief, Leila Roker, Creative Consultant, and Tamar Braxton, Media Personality. “Because technology and communications are ever-evolving landscapes, it’s important to learn what has worked best across different generations and package those insights to drive results and increase our impact as we move forward,” DeJuan shares. How does this thought-provoking topic connect to what you do at work?

Folks! After some very powerful words of encouragement (”why on earth would you do that?”, “seems commercially unviable”), we’re happy to announce we’ll be hosting our first event on Friday 20th September 2024. Inspired by Kevin Kelly’s belief that ‘over the long term, the future will be decided by optimists’, This is Optimism is a tiny, one-day conference for 100 people who believe we can imagine and invent new and original futures. Expect thought-provoking talks from designers, neuroscientists and storytellers, delicious food and drink, all within the beautiful surroundings of the Artelium Wine Estate in Sussex. We’ll be honest, if you’re after a typical conference – one full of PowerPoints with practical advice and 10 takeaways – this isn’t the event for you. This is less a ‘how to’ and more a ‘what if’ for people who want to think creatively about the future and what could be. Tickets are £389+VAT. This includes locally-sourced, expertly-produced food and drink throughout the day, a closing dinner where we’ll gather to discuss the day’s events, plus optional transport to/from Haywards Heath or Brighton station. And of course, Artelium wine for those that partake. If you like the sound of this, follow us here for gentle updates or register your interest via our landing page: https://optimism.is More info, including speaker announcements coming very soon. #thisisoptimism2024
