Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP)

This surge in the #powerdemand, spurred by an intense heatwave, underscores the critical need to transition to #cleanenergy solutions. #Discoms must prioritize #renewable sources, ensuring reliability during peak periods while advancing #sustainability goals and combating #climatechange. It's important to harness the power of #cleanenergy to meet rising demands responsibly. #LetsChangeEnergy https://lnkd.in/gAwzxNUK The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE)

It is critical to note we need both #renewables sources to meet the energy requirements in GWh as well as Energy storage to meet the capacity requirement in MW. It is also worth noting that the new coal promoted by the Power Ministry will not come online for 5+years, doing nothing to solve today's Power crisis. In contrast, RE and storage can be deployed in less than two years. It is crucial for the Power Ministry (and state planners) to start prioritizing affordability and reliability for consumers, rather than blindly sinking tens of billions of dollars into unaffordable new coal plants.

Insightful! Bess becomes crucial for bottoms up distribution network planning. Serves to reduce the power purchase cost by avoiding costly power market buy and deferring the need for network upgrades in space constrained locations, besides enabling RTSPV penetration.

Sadly acute power shortfall, dangerous air pollution and extreme waterlogging are only realised by all in summer, winter and rains and forgotten as soon as the season is over. They get high publicity and criticism but deemed to be seasonal problems and no preventive/remedial measures are taken and if taken they are grossly inadequate with temporary short term relief. Hopeless or helpless ???

Indeed, transitioning to #cleanenergy is not just a necessity for meeting rising demands (especially during heatwaves), but also a responsible step towards combating climate change.💪 #LetsChangeEnergy

One could hardly overemphasize the importance and urgent need for: It's important to harness the power of hashtag hashtag #cleanenergy to meet rising demands responsibly. but would humbly like to add that It's also important to raise the demand responsibly for achieving the balance between demand and supply within a reasonable time. Technologies for cooling like heat pumps and using buried pipe lines for cooling hot air can be skillfully deployed in buildings to reduce the power consumption for cooling. The natural cooling methods to be deployed to refurbish cooling of buildings. #Point to ponder

Delhi is literally burning with temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius. This situation and others underscore the importance of the net zero objective.
