Absolutely LOVED working on Ultra Violet Agency's new report, FemTech Futures 2035. After working with Anna Butterworth on both research and copy, I can certainly say I am much more optimistic about the future. "We’ve entered our radical opportunity era. We are in a critical moment, a crossroads in the tangent of human development. We have a choice: what issues we solve, what problems we find solutions for, and the impact of these choices could change the trajectory of our planet, our population and our well-being. The Overcoming bias in designing women's health solutions webinar with 42 Technology was fantastic! Some takeaways from the incredible panel: 📊 As we charge ahead with AI, it’s essential to comb deeply into the model training data to ensure that gender and racial bias isn’t more deeply embedded into tech, medicine, and culture. This cannot be ignored in the name of “progress.” 👏 Good outcomes > ego. We hear about every failed female founder and non-stop about the male creator-genius. This split narrative needs to stop. 🤖 FEMTECH ISN’T NICHE! Women’s bodies are human bodies. Our differences, similarities, strengths, pathologies, cycles, emotions, experiences, intellect…is all part of the human experience, not just the female experience. Since I started writing and lecturing on femtech six years ago, things have changed a bit, but innovations and perspectives in this sector are still held back by an immature understanding of the scope of this field. 📣 Celebrate cyclical bodies in femtech more than pathologising it! Yes, there is a need to focus on things like maternal mortality and PCOS, etc., but femtech can also bridge gaps in sports, well-being, education, biological sex differentiation, etc. which focus on the incredible strengths of cyclical bodies (and all bodies) absent pathology. 💡 On a positive note, there are some incredible advocates, researchers, founders, medical experts, engineers, professors, writers, and thought leaders working to overcome gender and racial bias in femtech and beyond. The next 6 years is going to be better than the last with these thoughtful people on board.
