🍾✨ Sometimes the journey is tougher than we imagine. A year ago, I brought this Prosecco from Switzerland for a celebration of Reppatch's first investment. But, the road has been full of unexpected twists and turns. Plans, people, and life itself can throw challenges our way. This Prosecco, once a source of motivation in my room, started to feel like a reminder of unmet goals. Despite 1.5 years of relentless effort, the distance between my startup and the envisioned success seemed vast. Yet, in reflection, it's crucial to acknowledge the milestones achieved. After 1.5 years creating an industry from scratch while trying every kind of way and as a first big project upcycling 2 tons of waste is no small feat. Recognizing success, even before reaching the ultimate goal, is a victory in itself. Get on stage, deflect the recognition to your team, thank everyone...blah blah blah. That's the formula for gracefully accepting an award and pretty much everyone follows it. But does everyone REALLY believe that their recognition would not be possible without their team? I don't know...but I do. I even have data to support it. I was fortunate enough to be recognized by ILTA last week with the Innovative Leader of the Year award. 10 years ago I was working really hard on the thought leadership front and got shortlisted for the same award. I got all dressed up and even took a client to the awards dinner and....I didn't win. It wasn't for lack of effort. That's for sure. I delivered 20 roadshows (all in person in different cities), 3-4 webinars, multiple Peer to Peer articles, and spoke at multiple conferences that year. I was working REALLY hard.....but I wasn't working smart. I had no C suite resources on the team in 2014. It wasn't by choice. We were just in startup mode and super reactive. Acrowire delivered great work but I didn't have the people or the time to really think through market positioning, branding, partnerships, pricing, org structure, etc. We ate what we killed and immediately moved on to the next hunt. Fast forward 10 years to 2024 with Infodash. I have 3 C suite roles, multiple VP and director level resources and people on the front line who get shit done. As a result of this strong team we have become extremely thoughtful and strategic about how we execute. We're working smarter....not just harder. I had a call with Stewart Rasmussen just this week and he asked me how I found the time to do all the things I'm doing and my response was "my team!" So, I don't know if everyone who gets on stage and deflects credit to their team actually means it but I sure as hell do. We are punching way above our weight class as a result of their good work. We're taking market share from the biggest players in this space and will continue to do so. I know one thing for sure....I sure as hell wouldn't want to compete against us! I promise that we are going to continue to make a LOT of noise in this market. We are just getting started.
