What's better than finding usable space in your building? 🕵️♀️ Turning it into surprising public amenities! Thanks to its robust structure, 10 World Trade offers wide-open spaces unbroken by columns. In this episode of #sasakibuilds, Meredith McCarthy shows us how that structure makes room for a 150-seat public auditorium that opens to the outside, tucked into a building corner. Finally, from my perspective to build this kind of building we need a solid foundation. I learned in my research mostly all over New York City was based on the rock zone area. It gives a strong foundation to build such a skyscraper firstly we have a very solid foundation. All things considered, the Brooklyn Tower becomes a representation of modernity, a place where sustainability, efficiency, and creative design come together. The project's effective integration of prefabrication and modular construction techniques not only accelerate construction timelines and cost-effectiveness but also establish the project as a model for future urban developments, highlighting the transformative power of innovative construction techniques. The Brooklyn Tower, a prominent landmark in the sky is more than just a structure, but is also evidence of the boundless opportunities that arise when architectural brilliance and inventiveness converge in the dynamic field of urban building.

🚧 Partial Building Collapse in Little Italy, NYC 🚧 There's been a partial building collapse in Little Italy, New York, at the old Alleva Dairy spot. There was some renovation going on without the right permits which included pulling out floor joists. Thankfully, nobody got hurt hurt, but it's a reminder about following safe working practices. It's not just about this one building. We've seen other collapses recently in NYC. It’s making a lot of employers and employees think about the safety of these older structures. The city’s still looking into what happened. As someone who’s seen a lot in construction, it's a reminder of why safe methods of working are put in place. Let me know if you're got thoughts on this or any advice on how to keep things safe on site. #ConstructionSafety #NYCBuildings #BuildingRegulations #ConstructionCommunity https://lnkd.in/eiMdkJjf

The distinction between teamwork and collaboration can sometimes blur. Let me explain using our iconic project - Devonbosch. Teamwork is about working together towards a common goal, while collaboration infuses varied perspectives and expertise, resulting in something extraordinary. At Devonbosch, we haven’t just built homes, but have crafted experiences. It’s a product of collaboration, where architects, designers, and the community come together to intertwine urban conveniences with nature’s serenity. Imagine living in a place where the sky isn't an afterthought but the centerpiece. Where the murmurs of the city meld effortlessly with the tranquility of sprawling green landscapes. Devonbosch isn't just a property development - it’s an ethos, a community, a seamless blend of the nostalgic past and the bustling present. From young families to professionals, our properties resonate with all, as they merge urban sophistication with the coziness of a tight-knit community. The secret? It's our approach to placing landscape and community at the heart, allowing personal and professional growth to bloom in harmony. In essence, Devonbosch represents the power of collaboration, where every element, every brick, and every blade of grass plays its part in composing a symphony of holistic well-being. #DevonboschLiving #BeyondBricks #NatureMeetsUrban #CommunityCollaboration

On the agenda for tomorrow night's Council Meeting, the “Forgotten Spaces: Revitalising Perth’s Laneways, Episode 2”, another policy which started as a Notice of Motion put forward by me. The City of Perth first unveiled a laneway program in 2008 with several laneways brought to life with new bars and art installations. This work by the City had ceased until brought back to the attention of Council by my Notice of Motion. In June 2023, the City hosted an online survey on Engage Perth to seek feedback on Episode 2 of the laneway policy initiated by me. From the 108 survey responses received, there was a 100% support for revitalisation of laneways in Central Perth and Northbridge. The following key themes also emerged from feedback received through the City’s consultation: - Perception that there was a lack of commitment to ongoing maintenance in City owned laneways - Lack of ongoing investment including mural art programs - People would like to see more opportunities for outdoor dining in laneways which balance the needs of servicing - The need to address lighting and overall perceptions of safety The great cities of the world are defined by their great neighbourhoods, architecture, arts and culture. Modern and progressive cities are vibrant, inclusive, safe and sustainable. And they are always striving to be better. #perthcity #laneways #publicart

Cities, overcrowded concrete jungles, are damaging to us and to our planet. By 2050, 70% of people will live in a city, but will they be happy? Innovators, architects, urban planners, and designers believe they can be. They see urban life as an asset, a chance for community and well-being driven by smart design. In 2022, we produced a documentary series - 'Small Footprint.' Over the course of six 10-minute episodes, we will explore these philosophies and introduce you to the thinkers, planners, and designers shaping the future of our cities. At The Pulse of Amsterdam, where everything and everyone comes together, accessibility plays a significant role. Located just 150 metres away from Amsterdam Zuid station, The Pulse already offers exceptional access to public transport and the A10 highway. But that’s not all – through parking and charging facilities, we are prepared to accommodate approximately 1300 cyclists! Additionally, for those using more than just two wheels, 126 parking spaces will be provided, all equipped with a charging station. Our goal is to increase the number of shared mobility parking spaces, making it easier for everyone to embrace a more sustainable way of getting around. That is why 45 spaces are assigned to the shared mobility concept. Downtown Diversity. US cities especially Chicago and Manhattan offer great learning in the urban phenomenon called Downtown. The ultra high value of land propels an organic skyscraper phenomenon leading to beautiful urban compositions being created from layers of architectural styles over a period stretching more than a century and this phenomenon is everchanging with new construction set in this urban drama. The phenomenon can be viewed from multiple vantage points, at close distance from streets, from window, from top , from far distance across the river. Glass facades create new depths and dimensions
